Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Seeing Josh Brolin though kills my Goonies nostalgia, though.

Young Riders. When he and Steven Baldwin were hot. And not buckets o' crazy.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

sj, did they show "Hotel Chevalier"? that's a separate short that leads into the movie. It's available free on iTunes I think.

I think that is what it was.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

It's available free on iTunes I think.

Yep. It's somewhat infamous because Natalie Portman gets nekkid (although you can't see any naughty bits).

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I saw Darjeeling Limited (sadly without the short) and really liked it, but I'm kind of Wes Anderson's bitch at this point. Probably not the filmmaker for you if you can't stand charcters who don't respect other people's bounderies.

The one thing about Darjeeling that really stuck (due to meta issues) was Owen Wilson bandaged up for the entire movie. It carried a weight I'm not sure it would have without the RL incident.

Punishingly Intricate

I loved Darjeeling Limited. Am also Wes Anderson's bitch. And they showed it with Hotel Chevalier which I didn't love and I was worried the feature would be more of the same but it really wasn't.

It was just so gorgeous.

I got no dissertations though.

"I am the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world"

I saw this and nearly did a spit-take. I'm watching the documentary on the making of Hitchcock's Rear Window and they were mentioning other films he did that were shot in confined locations.

Remember the discussions about Keanu Reeves from a few days ago?

One of the movies mentioned was Lifeboat and they flashed the poster on the screen. And there they were... (from left to right, starting with the 2nd guy over) Keanu Reeves, Matt Dillon and Val Kilmer...

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Prizoner of Azkaban was my favorite Harry Potter movie but since I've re-read the book I'm having all kinds of problems with it.

Why would Sirius growl and bark at Harry?

Scabbers ears are ridiculous.

Those carriages are so close together there's no room for thestrals in between.

*cough2000cough*

I'm assuming they used Shetlend Thestrals?
