Aww, Drumline! Cheesy, yet fabulous. (Plus, music fraternity shoutouts!)
Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I have seen that movie like 4-6 times. The final sequence with Earth Wind and Fire is just fucking awesome.
Joe laughs because I have NOT seen the whole of Drumline. Just the last half-hour or so.
I just like Drumline because where else can you watch only the band parts of college football? On ESPNU, you have to wade through all of that football to get to the guys in purple uniforms with feathers bashing one another with their tubas.
(Except for The Play, which thankfully they show shorn of its game context, because stomping on trombones really is that funny.)
I love Drumline, Stomp the Yard, You Got Served- all that! Guy who gets booted cause he doesn't play by the rules helps the team win in a last stand situation and the coach learns a new way and the rebel learns a lesson about teamwork- are some of my favorite guilty pleasures.
I love Drumline 'cause it's awesome.
Also 'cause it got me a whole new batch of drum students. Drum students who were willing to work on their rudiments.
Hey that's cool! I never thought of the good that could come from Drumline.
It's very odd, but movies have that effect, sometimes.
Indiana Jones movies come out, and archeology departments see a spike in new students. Jurassic Park came out, and the same thing happened with paleontology departments.
Finding Forrester changed my life.

Please don't tell me what happened when Silence of the Lambs came out.
(Also, I learned to play roller hockey because of The Mighty Ducks. Still possibly the most fun I've ever had playing a *shudder* sport.)
