are reuniting onstage in Sheila's memory and the lineup includes Z-Cars, The Kids, Critical Mass, Slyder, Tight Squeeze, Charley Pickett, The Cichlids, and will help us remember an important time in our history.
Slyder used to do double bills with The Kids. Slyder had more of a Tom Petty vibe. I have the Cichlids record - sort of a B-52s type band. Charlie Pickett & the Eggs were actually a nationally known cult band. Saw them several times.
So, I've just finished
Drving Lessons
with Rupert Grint and Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley). I really liked it. Rupert was just adorable and, it must be said, my DR crush is fading a bit and I might have to transfer my afftections.
Oh sweetie. I'm afraid I'm not the sharing type.
Mine mine mine!!
Hee.
Wait, all his scenes were cut from the movie? Aw, that sucks. Who did he play?
He was just a ghost in the chorus.
He shouldn't have been a ghost, as there are no ghosts in Sweeney Todd (much like there is no crying in baseball).
I've seen the trailer. Huh. I...don't know about this. I guess we'll see.
So in the midst of one of the better dates in my memory, I managed to finally see
Once
last night.
I can say with surety that it's my favorite movie of this year, edging out
Pan's Labyrinth
(which I'm counting as a January release) because I'm a sucker for simple tales about real people. Not to mention music. And what music! It is glorious - emotional, lyrical, and simply wonderful.
It may be too late for most people to see this movie in the theater - it's only showing in one Manhattan theater right now - but if you can, you simply must. And if not, you need to see it on DVD at the first available opportunity. It's beautiful.
The trailer for Elizabeth - the Golden Age suggests this will be a Lord of the Rings sequel.
Heh. It looks even more laughably ridonk than the previous one.
Heh. It looks even more laughably ridonk than the previous one.
I think I'm on board with the ridonk and the ahistoricity because of the pomp and pageantry and hairdos and Cate spouting faux Shakespeare and Clive all roguish. And, of course, Elizabeth the First facing down the Balrog Spanish Armada.
