Saw EASTERN PROMISES tonight (first opening night movie I've seen in a long stretch, but apparently I'm Cronenberg's bitch). Not quite up to a thoughtful post yet, but I will say that Viggo was really quite amazing. It's a Meryl Streep type performance in terms of precise accent and foreign dialog (at least to my ears), but there was no "ACTING" on display (unlike Meryl a lot of times).
On the other hand, there was
a LOT of Viggo on display - in fact pretty much all, plus tatoos. Not what I went to see it for, but the most revealing scene was really amazing and grueling.
It's a seriously, intimately violent movie, though, for those who are squeamish about those things.
I really want to see that. I loved "A History of Violence" and quite like Mortensen, too; I think he's a fabulous actor, and I have a wee crush on him as a person, too.
I think the movie looks potentialy very good, and (shallow) I do want to see him naked, covered in tats and kicking ass.
OMG, they're going to be running Haunted on Sciffy!!
sumi!
Really? The Matthew Fox
Haunted
? I loved that show! TiVo'ed!
This is why I need to keep up in Boxed Set even if I miss Eureka. I would have missed Highlander tonight, too! I'm prepared for it to suck, but - Methos!
Must check Amazon Unbox for Life and Journeyman. And Chuck. And Bionic Woman if I can't wait.
My nice little local cable company is being taken over by Comcast. I am displeased.
Guys! Look! This is the movie my friend Nancy wrote.
I very much look forward to seeing that, Robin.
Random: does anyone know of any good nature documentaries with time-lapsed photography? More flowers blooming than waterfalls or clouds moving. I was going to rent the Art of Nature from Netflix, but they've had it at "Very Long Wait" for about four months now, and I don't want to buy it sight unseen. So now I'm trying to dig up other nature docs.
Is it wrong that I'm dying to see Good Luck Chuck?

Nothing involving Clumsy Jessica Alba can be wrong. Even with that guy I don't like very much.

I just hope the pratfalls in the trailers are not the best parts of the film. I laugh my ass off every time I see one.
It definitely looks funny. I don't know about dying to see it, but it certainly looks like a fun time (and hopefully Dane Cook can try not to be annoying: i.e. himself.)
I know less about him than apparently everybody in America, because I have no opinion on him at all.
But seriously, combine Jessica Alba with endearing clumsiness (one of my Top Five Traits for Girls to Have) and I'm hooked.
