Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

as was the wee Roman general (or whatever)

Steve Coogan, no? The guy who lead Owen down the hard drugs and partying path.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Steve Coogan, no? The guy who lead Owen down the hard drugs and partying path.

May be true, maybe not, but the only word one has to go on is Courtney Love, who may not be the most stable source of this.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Or on anything.

Maybe the word "stable" shouldn't be in the same sentence with her.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Maybe the word "stable" shouldn't be in the same sentence with her.

How about "Sometimes it seems like she was brought up in a stable?"

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Sometimes it seems like she was brought up in a stable

An insult to well-mannered horses everywhere.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Saw EASTERN PROMISES tonight (first opening night movie I've seen in a long stretch, but apparently I'm Cronenberg's bitch). Not quite up to a thoughtful post yet, but I will say that Viggo was really quite amazing. It's a Meryl Streep type performance in terms of precise accent and foreign dialog (at least to my ears), but there was no "ACTING" on display (unlike Meryl a lot of times).

On the other hand, there was a LOT of Viggo on display - in fact pretty much all, plus tatoos. Not what I went to see it for, but the most revealing scene was really amazing and grueling.

It's a seriously, intimately violent movie, though, for those who are squeamish about those things.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I really want to see that. I loved "A History of Violence" and quite like Mortensen, too; I think he's a fabulous actor, and I have a wee crush on him as a person, too.

I think the movie looks potentialy very good, and (shallow) I do want to see him naked, covered in tats and kicking ass.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

OMG, they're going to be running Haunted on Sciffy!!

sumi! Really? The Matthew Fox Haunted ? I loved that show! TiVo'ed!

This is why I need to keep up in Boxed Set even if I miss Eureka. I would have missed Highlander tonight, too! I'm prepared for it to suck, but - Methos!

Must check Amazon Unbox for Life and Journeyman. And Chuck. And Bionic Woman if I can't wait.

My nice little local cable company is being taken over by Comcast. I am displeased.

Guys! Look! This is the movie my friend Nancy wrote.

I very much look forward to seeing that, Robin.

Random: does anyone know of any good nature documentaries with time-lapsed photography? More flowers blooming than waterfalls or clouds moving. I was going to rent the Art of Nature from Netflix, but they've had it at "Very Long Wait" for about four months now, and I don't want to buy it sight unseen. So now I'm trying to dig up other nature docs.
