Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Lane embezzled the shit out of that money.

He sure did. Plus the line of credit isn't exactly a free grant. So he's got line of credit that he lied about and said was profit, then he took his check early, and he also forged Don's signature. He can get caught on all three fronts.

Thing is, Joan's going to be the one who catches him. This will end badly for Lane. Very badly.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This will end badly for Lane. Very badly.

I turned to DH about halfway through and asked if the actor had been cast in a pilot because there's no way Lane is not getting fired and/or deported.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Considering all the suicide motif they've been toying with this season...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm just amazed you could buy a classic (to-be) Jag for $6K back then.

I know, right? Damn.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

How much did cars cost back then?

An Oldsmobile Cutlass had a base price of $3500, so $6K was a lot. [link]

Because books.

What year is it? Because in some NJ suburbs, commutable to NY, 3-4 bedroom houses were going for under $30K in the late 60s. (In the town I'm thinking of, most of the older Victorians were going for average $750,000 the last time I looked. In what? Just around forty years.)
