Art Crawl!!!

From the Futon Critic:

AMC, the network defining The Future of Classic, announced today that acclaimed film actors Jim Caviezel (Passion of the Christ, The Thin Red Line) and Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings, The Da Vinci Code) have signed on to star in the network's reinterpretation of the highly influential 1960's cult classic, The Prisoner. AMC is co-producing the six-part mini-series with ITV Productions and Granada International, with a worldwide premiere slated for 2009. The Prisoner, AMC's second original mini-series, combines a wide range of genres, including espionage, thriller and Sci-Fi, into a unique and compelling drama, and expands upon the network's distinctive cinematic approach to creating high-quality programming.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'd say something reassuring about McKellen's participation denoting quality, but, well... X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

AMC is having a contest for a walk-on on Mad Men, but you have to send them an "audition" clip.

I am so there. I've already drafted juliana to coach and direct me through it. Off now to gather up the details.

I would love to do it, but there's no way I'd be cast. Except maybe in some sort of maid or cleaning woman role, and no thanks.

Well, S2 is supposed to be starting two (3?) years after the end of 1, and this would be a walk-on for S3--so at least another year after that, for a show that's focused tightly on a pack of dinosaurs getting battered by just how fast and ferociously the rest of the world around them is changing. S3 might actually be a good season for them to play with someone like you.

Hm, maybe I should do the Joan monologue.

You would *rock* Joan.

Unsurprisingly, I'm going for Peggy. Though I kind of want to do Pete's, too, because it's just a great little "I am a deeply fucked-up little prick and dimly aware of it" monologue, the kind of thing I'm uncomfortably good at.

Strangely enough, AMC's involvement does reassure me after Mad Men. The passionate Christ on the other hand...

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Strangely enough, AMC's involvement does reassure me after Mad Men.

Yep, me too. Mainly, I just hope they completely reinvent it instead of trying to replicate the original series (which would be a disaster).
