to answer your question directly (SPOILERY for others): there was a period of time during the original series where the councilman was arrested and looked kind of guilty (this was about halfway to 2/3rds of the way through the series). So if they are following the pacing, this is about the time for the arrest to happen.

To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
Thanks, le nubian! One more question does the councilman get shot in the original?
NO. Another change that I did not appreciate.
the critical reaction to last night's season final is brutal and harsh. Sepinwall, Goodman, both seemed to hate it (and Cultural Learnings gave up on it 3 weeks ago).
I'm pretty down on it. It's frustrating to have no resolution, not only to the mystery but to whether Linden will actually go to Sonoma. Just plot twist after plot twist doesn't add up to a good plot.
If they've lost Sepinwall and Goodman, it does not say good things about this series...they are Simon fanboys who were all prepared to christen "The Killing" Homicide-for-cable or something.
I think that the storytelling in The Killing is as murky as the atmosphere.
ooh snap.
I haven't watched it since I went to NY about a month ago. I thought I'd be all impatient to get back to it and I really... wasn't.
Also, I'm irrationally annoyed by the depiction of Seattle weather and the sloppy cutaways from mildly overcast wide angle shots of the city skyline to closeup scenes taking place moments later where it's inevitably pouring rain.

I hope next season of The Killing is just Linden planning her wedding. She's totally moved on and is on a slow hunt for a cupcake tower.
Hee.
