She could do a whole lot worse.
A guy once told me he wanted us to stay together because he could do worse than me. Honestly, I was a little offended. What, you want to marry me because at least I'm not a crack whore? I don't think that's a very good reason to get married.
I'm glad the writers haven't made Raj abusive or a tool. Her decision would be so much easier then. I'm also glad they didn't solve this problem in a few episodes - this is a huge thing for her, regardless of what she chooses to do. It's interesting to me because Raj IS a great guy and she has really good reasons to marry him. I wonder, though, how great a husband he'll be - seems to me a guy who isn't there much before he marries you won't be inclined to be there much afterward. I suspect Raj is always going to put his obligation to Divya's father before her, and that alone would give me reason to reconsider.
Or he's mostly going to put into it what he's obligated to and when he does something like considers her feelings, he's going to need to be treated like he's the nicest guy ever for doing that.
I think Raj is pretty decent, but I think Divya needs more.
zenkitty,
oh that does sound offensive. I meant that in the arena of romantic love, millions break up even after months of marriage. On this tv show, she really could do worse going on her own devices.
I missed 1.5 seasons, so I know nothing about his relationship with her father.
he's going to need to be treated like he's the nicest guy ever for doing that
He's never shown anything like this. He's never been anything worse than not always around for her, and that's been while he lived in a different country. Towards her, around her, he's been consistently great.
LeN, I don't think they've shown much of her actual interaction with her father. But her interaction with her mother and sister seem to be coded to show that arranged marriage is for the birds which bothers me.
I'm clearly conflicted on the matter--I want Divya with the patient (I'm glad she didn't break up with Raj for the brother--that would have sucked), but I hate seeing arranged marriages go down the tubes. And I like Raj.
White Collar:
Last week, it was an engagement ring for Peter.
This week, it's marriage to Elizabeth.
So now the threesome's official, right?
Is there another Dave Chappelle I'm missing a reference to?
Chappelle disappeared for a while, and no one seemed to know where he was. I thought that's what Mozzie meant.
Weird. I think of that period as David having a break with reality (although in this Mel Gibson-Charlie Sheen world it' ain't no thing), but his disappearance was the least of it. I didn't think of it as a characteristic of his.
I posted in Procedurals by mistake. My comments:
I love that he's even moving like Neal.
STOP THAT! That belongs to Peter!
Mmmmmm, Peter should wear black t-shirts more often. Those are some nice arms. And Neal should have his abs framed by an unbuttoned dress shirt as often as possible.
I'll have to watch again to see what I missed due to hormonal distractions. There was a plot about evil energy magnates, right?
