Canonically unstated, but all the fratboysad men have been hinting for the last few eps about how she's putting on weight, alternately eating and puking, etc. It's looking like one of the big reveals for the last few eps
and my money is on Peggy to find a hell of a way to expose Pete as the shitheel he is over this, rather than the helpless tragic taken-advantage-of woman plot that I've also seen speculated

I'm wondering if they'll have enough guts for Peggy to have an illegal abortion. That would really highlight the inequities of the era.

Btw, here's what she looks like when she's not all dowdied up.
She was a child actress and has also done a bunch of voiceover work, including work on Animaniacs and Batman TAS. She was Zoe Bartlett on West Wing and had a recurring role on Picket Fences.
