I did like the story she was telling in the car about the dead man's car being haunted. But I don't know Elmore Leonard, so I can't pick out what's his influence and what isn't. I just know that I loved every minute of the pilot.
Loved the Cooper character, was horrified when I thought he'd been shot dead.
I also loved Cooper. I like how relationships are fluid in this show--characters remain consistent, but their allegiances shift in interesting ways. I LOVE Raylen's boss. He's a wonderful low-key character, but so fully drawn.
