How does TiVo work? Can I go buy a TiVo and have ot working by tonight?

You have a dish? I'm not sure Tivo works with Dish. You might have to go to the Tivo website to suss this out. Do you have a Best Buy in your area? You might see what kind of DVRs they have.

Oh, is it just the DVR that's a problem, you still get the content? You could get a TiVo today and set it up, but I don't know if it's compatible with the Dish signal.

Zenkitty, typically the next day I think. I don't use them a lot, but I have used them in emergencies.
