If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

This is a question for Erika, mostly. DirectTV is replaying S1 of Oz, and each ep opens with commentary of some sort. So Tom Fontanta is introing the S1 finale and he says that Oswald Pen is in "an unnamed state on the Eastern Seaboard."

Really? It never even occurred to me that it wasn't specifically Florida, and now I'm wondering where I got that from in the first place. [I used to own the dvds but eBayed them in a spate of poverty so I'm totally on memory here.]

Also, man I forgot how intense this show is, and how much I love it. And, not for nothing, how there's a [something] actor bingo all its own between this, Homicide, L&O, The Wire, etc. What's the connecting thread - Simon?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What's the connecting thread - Simon?

Actually it's Christopher Walken's wife, who's the biggest casting director on the east coast.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Still don't like Fiona. Don't hate her like I used to, but don't like her yet.

Interesting. Huh.

Fiona's growing on me, but yeah.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I like the character a lot more than the actress.

Sometimes, I like to imagine her played by Stephanie Romanov or Amy Acker.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I had a moment last night with Jeffrey Donovan and Gabrielle Anwar and the lotion girl where I was all "Who are these fugly, squinty, skin-stretched hags?". Harsh, but there it was. Fiona equally pisses me off and annoys me just about as much as ever.

Oh, so Georgianne Walken is Mrs. Christopher? I mean, it makes sense but you can't take stuff like that for granted either. I noticed the same actor bingo, Brenda. But I never finished the whole series...it's pretty intense, and there's no cornerboys kicking it on the couch talking about McNuggets to break it up. And I was never sure where they set it, although the governor being such a tough-on-crime douchebag does kind of make Florida a good guess during that time. I never knew Ivanek could be so loathesome...I mean, he's always "behind Blue Eyes" guy, even though his eyes are brown, but mostly he's a mild-mannered bureaucrat(And my choice to play Patrick Fitzgerald in the Blago movie, if there is one.)

It's funny. I was just so convinced it was Florida I basically thought it was canon. Apparently not.

I noticed also that the music director is Chris Tergesen. That can't be a coincidence.

Heh. Except for the fact that Bodie is totally one of the bangers in S1. But yeah, I take your point.

(And my choice to play Patrick Fitzgerald in the Blago movie, if there is one.)

I could be down with that.

You're right; he was. Damn, Ms. Brenda, your shit is tight today. Fitz is taller, but the second I saw him I was like "You go, Ed Danvers." Of course, I was oh-so-ardently hoping for a Rove perp walk at that point.
