What about all the minor women characters w/ rhyming names?? What does that mean? Or is it just a joke?

I think it's just that names go through trends. Just like the popular thing right now is names that end in "a".

Note that both Judith and Judy made the Top 20 in the 40s:

Punishingly Intricate

I could swear they were calling Betty's sister-in-law something like Trooby. weird.

It always possible that she had a weird nickname. Growing up, in fine New England fashion, me and my siblings were Sissy, Booey, and Tippy. These names bear no relation to our real names.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

me and my siblings were Sissy, Booey, and Tippy.

Which one were you?

That is the question.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I say: Booey.

And I plan to call you "Booey" until you snap at me in irritation and say, "It's not Booey!" and then I'll be down to two.

You would, too. So I'll just tell you that my brother was Booey. I'll have to ask my sister (Sissy--creative!) if she knows where it comes from; I don't think it was from me warping brother. (My cousin called my mother "Tatante" her whole life since every time she came over my aunt would say "Ta tante arrive" or something similar).

That's what I figured.

“Not dead yet!”

Now, she just says that everyone has it hard (with the implied "get over it")

You know, Vortex, your observation kept resonating with me at odd times today and all of a sudden, that hallway scene with Peggy from earlier in the season (the second ep, I think, when Paul had the party at his apartment) popped into my head.

How she so coolly dismissed the guy and went home alone. Maybe the first inkling, in a manner of speaking, that she'd regained/taken some measure of control-- or at least was trying. Maybe that scene with Pete was the final hurdle for her.

Or it's entirely possible I'm overthinking, as usual.

hip deep in pie

My neighbors had a beagle named Tippy.

I went to university with a girl named Fufi ("foo-fee"). Real name Jane. She preferred Fufi. Her sister's were Punky and Minnow.
