We have to see the chimp playing hockey! That's hilarious! The ice is so slippery, and, and monkeys are all irrational. We have to see this!

Highly recommend. I have very little idea what's going to happen next and it's awesome.

ETA I didn't give Season 2 of True Detective a chance. Have not heard anything to make me regret that.

Yeah, same here. Had it on DVR and deleted without watching any. A friend tried to convince me that if the seasons had been reversed that it would have been well received, but I don't have enough time for that.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'm tempted by things I've heard about Taylor Kitsch's character in it, but I've not heard anything good said about the writing for that season.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I stuck it out in hopes that it would prove itself to have been good all along and I regretted all the time I spent on it.

I stuck with the BBC America series Tatau in hopes that the series would justify itself by having the viewpoint character turn out to have been a serial killer all along. But it turned out to be every bit as awful as it seemed - a horror/suspense version of "What these people need is a honkey."

Always Anti-fascist!

Honestly, even the best of True Detective made me impatient, though in some way the performances in the first season sort of justified it. But it seemed awfully sexist and stuff even though I'm a woman who's given out a fair amount of crime fiction passes for that in my life.

Agreed. The story was messed up, but not in a particularly interesting way, ultimately, and the characters were performed way better than they were written. And half of why I liked it was the setting, which was at least enjoyable for me to see. Setting the second season in California lost that aspect entirely for me. I see California all the time (and not just because I live here, it's on TV and in the movies all the time)

I think they were aiming for "Chinatown" and missed, by quite a lot.(Which, okay, Chinatown is a classic and quite a reach for a second season.)

Thanks, Typo. I gave up on Tatau, glad to have that choice validated.

Yeah, like I said if the main character had turned out to be a serial killer, that would have made he series worthwhile for me. And I really thought they were going there. It just seemed so obvious that that was what he was. I mean the flashing red warning lights were all there.
