Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
Haven't been here in weeks if not months. Homeland slowly became disappointing this season; too much Yay 24!-esque dumbness. But I'll watch to see if Season 3 is any good. Dexter got better after not being very good the year Colin Hanks was on, for one example of the virtue of not giving up.
Yay for Justified! Art, Raylan, Boyd, what a fabulous trio of actors. Everyone's good, really.
I'm all caught up with The Walking Dead and looking forward to the next run of eps starting next weekend. I'm still startled as how much I love this show, given how successfully and determinedly I avoided all zombie-subject media until it.
Just in case convo was going to go further--Homeland and Dexter belong in Premium.
I'm only watching Ripper Street with half an eye--but what I consider an interested half an eye--I'm at least tracking the A plot.
Imagine my surprise as I'm wondering if the Jackson guy is from the future, what with his Science and his Weaponry, and the whole time I had completely missed the minor issue of the accent difference. I am pathetically bad at spotting the most obvious shit in that category.
Justified: Well, my goodness.
I think it is one of the best shows on tv right now.
I'm enjoying
Justified
more than anything else on tv right now.
wrod.
By the way, hate The Americans.
Not that the two thoughts were related, apart from Yost.
Is it something they did today? I liked last week.
I'm behind on Justified, but White Collar is a perfect pre-Supernatural amuse bouche. No one not working a Kripke legacy is doing a bromance more justice. I love those two crazy kids, and the wife and the sidekick. An OT4 seems excessive, but if the hats fit...
Tim DeKay directed this one--weirdly once he got injured I wondered if he'd have a low screentime episode, aka the actor/director's excuse, but he seemed to be plenty present in this one anyway.
And Diahann Caroll singing makes up for Bill Bellamy's really signposted acting.
Just saw the pilot, ita. It just didn't do it for me, and I'm not sure why(although part of it is the hooker wig and the cutaway to the mark's...I don't know, blow-job face. But if I already liked the show, I doubt that would shake me to my foundations or anything.)
That wasn't just a blow job face. That was also a losing-my-butt-cherry face.
I'm curious to see if they can portray sympathetic anti-US spies without showing them drink the Constitutional Kool Aid. If they manage that, I might stay around. Also depends on Felicity's attitude towards sex. If she suddenly starts associating it with intimacy and it in any way prevents her from using it as a tool, I'm out. I hate the whole Sabine I've-been-trading-sex-for-money-for-years-but-now-that-I-love-never-again bullshit. I don't believe there's either a switch or a one-way door. They're moderately able to let men sleep around to get things that aren't financial security or love, so please to let women do so also.
To be honest, half of my appreciation of the show is tied up in its attitude to sex (FX--finger up the butt, revenge anal, M/M handjob--hello Skinemax lite) and its attitude to patriotism. Those can change on a dime, and so goes my nation.
