Cable Drama: Still Waiting for the Cable Guy to Show Up with the Thread Name...
To be determined... (but it's definitely [NAFDA])
I was really disappointed in this week's Leverage. The "bad guy" this week wasn't a bad guy. She was just a person trying to do her job. She didn't even treat people particularly badly. The looks that we get at the end when the mark realizes they've been had are really fun. This time, it just felt smug.
I had the same feeling at the end, Vortex.
Isn't there a point where "just your job" is cruel and harmful and you can be held responsible for said job? If there had been some sort of duress, sure. But she seemed aware of the bad things she was doing, and all in.
But at the same time, I see this point.
No mention of the fact that it was Virginia Bryce?
I didn't realize that Burn Notice had started again, so now I am catching up. I am two eps in, and I kind of like the set up for the season--burning everything down to start from scratch, literally

Lee, I've been liking it too. BN really did need a bit of a reboot; the formula was starting to get boring.
Oh, that's good to know. I have a bunch of them sitting on the Tivo that I haven't watched because I've been bored with the formula.
Can I ask about the new setup? I quit watching maybe a year ago out of boredom.
Stephanie, a lot of it won't make sense unless you have seen last season, but to sum up,
In order to convince a high up CIA guy who was responsible for Nate's death and tried to kill the gang repeatedly that the gang was dead, they had to let the agent who actually shot Nate (on the other guy's orders) burn down the apartment andthen Michael shot the higher up, mostly in cold blood, but somewhat in self defense, which Sam and Jesse have issues with, but now the whole gang is being hunted as traitors by a really badass CIA agent, who so far I like a lot.
I need to figure out who the actress is. I know I have seen her in a few things.
She's Kima (Sonja Sohn) from The Wire! They better watch out. She's no joke.
The Burn Notice opening sequence was annoying before, but now it's annoying and pointless. For a number of seasons it helped set up where we'd gotten to as of the first episode in the season, but what now? Makes little to no sense.
I watch because I reflexively watch the TNT/USA/etc original series. It's like a thing, and hard to kick once I get going. But I only really like Madeline and Jesse..the rest leave me cold. And I stopped being totally up to date with the twists and turns, because they always looped back around, and caught up with
me
in the end.
I still haven't watched the wire, but I guess I noticed her in Body of Proof.
Agreed on the opening--I keep hoping they are going to change it.
I still like Sam, most of the time, but Michael and Fiona leave me cold too.
Thanks, Lee. At least my interest is piqued. (I wanted to right peaked just to annoy but couldn't bring myself to do it).

That's internet perfect.
I never liked Fiona, because she started out written like a nagging girlfriend when she wasn't a girlfriend, and I felt they took too much time before giving her a personality more complex than "wants Michael" and "likes explosions". She's just never seemed to have anything to do.
She was in Miami when he showed up, right? But we so rarely get a sense of her life outside of Michael (I don't need to see it--it's his show, but that's not the only way to incorporate it into the canon) that she seemed to revolve around him.
But back then I was liking Michael now. I'm drifting away by virtue of not being pulled into his larger mission.
I'm surpised by hw much I like Sam (although it's not a lot) because I generally find Campbell annoying.
