Yeah... That went well.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

Because books.

I succumbed to the SYTYCD love last night and watched. I have no idea who anyone was, but that was some enjoyable TV right there. I did like the last number, a lot.

TC: Ted is love! Robo-dork. Hee.

So, on Top Chef, I should have known when they started interviewing someone I couldn't remember anything about, that she was on her way out. Meh.

This is EXACTLY what Stephen and I said. Who the hell was Camille? This season's contestants are lacking personality, or at least distinguishable personalities. I'm not sure I care, though -- I watch for Colicchio. I think there needs to be a Cult of Colicchio.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I was meh on SYTYCD last night-- the Wade Robson number stood out, but it was the weakest of his numbers this season. Of course, the NYT is probably right that viewers like me don't appreciate subtlety.

As for WSoPC, of course it was great, but I gotta complain about something earlier in the week: how in the hell did you get on this show if you can use an excuse like "I wasn't born yet"!?! HELLO, pop culture trivia on VH1 means knowing your '80s lyrics and references. THAT IS WHAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT. Thankfully they were eliminated. RIDIC.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh yeah, that was incredibily ridic.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I think there needs to be a Cult of Colicchio.

and the first member would be Padma (was it here where we were talking about the rumor that she divorced Rushdie because she was having an affair with Colicchio). But, I think he's a dick. But, I seem to be a minority in that opinion.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

For me the top couples were Dom/Sabra, Pasha/Sara, and Kam/Lacey.

I agree. I still don't like Danny or Anya (of course, this may be because it just drives me crazy that she claims to be 25). At this point though, I hope Cedric and Lauren go.

we at the Judges Table mistakenly repeated the myth that lobster is high in cholesterol. It is not. In fact, lobster meat has slightly LESS cholesterol than a skinless chicken breast.

I'm glad you posted that because, when I first watched that ep, I thought I was sure that shrimp was the one kind of shellfish you had to watch out for, but I forgot to google it later on.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

A "blind item" from Project RunGay that turns out to be on Gawker...

Sources tell us that two Bravo reality show contestants, one from Project Runway and one from its culinary rip-off, were seen canoodling recently in Manhattan. Can you guess who?

Hints: they're heterosexual; they both made it far in their respective competitions; one is beloved, with nary a bad thing ever said or written about him/her; one is considered "hot" by many fans.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Sam and LeeAnne?

Sadly, no. "They" say Sam and Uli. Although apparently it was just one dinner where they weren't really talking to each other, so who knows what that means.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Ha, I totally skipped over the Project Runway part.

Sam and Uli? That's...odd.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

This is EXACTLY what Stephen and I said. Who the hell was Camille? This season's contestants are lacking personality, or at least distinguishable personalities.

The good news is, this was the first episode where I felt everyone was actually on it, meaning we can expect to see every competitor from here on out.

was it here where we were talking about the rumor that she divorced Rushdie because she was having an affair with Colicchio.

That's been going around, and though serious body language gives it some weight, I've heard elsewhere that they're just friends and that it was Mr. Rushdie who's been stepping out. But the gossip columns? Not so reliable. Besides, Padma is mine!

Sam and Uli? That's...odd.

Huh. Yeah.
