ugh, the Top Chef quickfire was Bombay Sapphire cocktails ugh. I can't stand gin. it may have something to do with drinking almost an entire liter in high school by myself :) but that challenge would have killed me.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
SYTYCD: So glad to have the show back. I enjoyed most of them and even the ones that I hated (Hi, Lauren and Neil!) were better than last week.
I did not enjoy Cedric and though he was a little flail-y about the arms in his dance. However, I do agree this is the best he's done in any of the choreographed pieces thus far. Kind of a low bar, though.
For me the top couples were Dom/Sabra, Pasha/Sara, and Kam/Lacey. I could not love Dominic and Sabra anymore, and they were smoking tonight. Not terribly fond of the choreo, then again it's been a while since I've liked a Shane couple dance (I have enjoyed his group choreo). Loved, loved Pasha and Sara although really the show needs to get up off of Benji's jock. (And I was a HUGE Benjelle fan) Lacey continues to impress. I did not think I would enjoy her after the horrible black tutu outfit from Vegas week, but she is crazy versatile and Kameron always does what's asked of him, though I agree with some that he tends to fade a bit.
I love Danny. His dancing is exquisite. Anya continues to surprise. Even so, I can barely remember the dance at this point. Bored by the choreo. Can't they give Tyce a break?
Clear B3 for me are Cedric/Shauna, Hok/Jamie and Lauren/Neil. I just hate Lauren. She's so distracting. I don't know what it is about her, but she is not a pleasant dancer to watch. Maybe it's all the mugging? I am so ready for her to go home.
So, on Top Chef, I should have known when they started interviewing someone I couldn't remember anything about, that she was on her way out. Meh.
I thought the whole episode was kinda boring. But I did want to try that french toast/foie gras deal from the Quickfire challenge. MmmmMmmm.
I don't know what it is about her, but she is not a pleasant dancer to watch. Maybe it's all the mugging? I am so ready for her to go home.
I think you've got it right. I like Lauren as long as I can pretend it's not her.
Lauren (that's the one with Neil) bugged the fuck out of me with her comments that she pretends to be Asian. WTF was that? I know they did a Wade routine, but she needs to GO. That was some offensive shit right there and I'm surprised she didn't know it.
Yeah, the whole chinese alter ego was a serious WTF moment. I don't know how someone can be that clueless.
The fact that they did a Wade routine and made me hate it convinced me that the both of them are really just shit dancers. I kept thinking how much Jesus and Sara could've brought to that routine. And then I shed a little tear over the travesty that was the last results show. It could've been a really fun dance with dancers with a little bit of subtlety and ability to really interpret a piece and inhabit the character of the dance. I marginally liked Neil better in the dance than Lauren, but he didn't manage to bring any real malice or danger to the part he was dancing. I should've been getting Sweet from OMWF and he was giving me the Lucky Charms leprechaun. And I don't know what Lauren was giving other than a whole lot of gasface.
So, on Top Chef, I should have known when they started interviewing someone I couldn't remember anything about, that she was on her way out. Meh.
didn't you just love the shot of her kneeling on top of the stove whisking something over the flame?
Lauren (that's the one with Neil) bugged the fuck out of me with her comments that she pretends to be Asian. WTF was that?
I KNOW. I now hate her I don't care how she dances. But, you know, I hate contemporary. It just seems like a lot of flailing, running, and being thrown across the stage.
I loved the Quickfire because the top 3 were people that I like.
And I have to say that Hung is showing himself to be incapable of accepting criticism. If you don't like something he's made it's because you're "confused" or didn't understand his "concept".
I was worried that they were going to send Dale home but glad that they sent Camille since I had no idea who she was.
Also, they had the cheese-specialist on their team -- why didn't they do a cheese course? I mean, does a cheese course HAVE to be just cheese on a plate? Can't it be items cooked with cheese as the star ingredient?
Oh, and previous to TC I saw a documentary on Chicago PBS about two teams of Synchronized Swimmers that was both cool and kind of silly.
