Punishingly Intricate

Well, there you go. WTF is Whitney doing with her mouth in every single shot? I'm glad on principle, but meh in reality.

I did think she was really pretty in her Covergirl beauty shot and pretty great on the runway. Plus I'm a sucker. I totally cried when she won. SUCK-ER! but, yeah,

NOT PLUS SIZE!

As Tyra said at one point during the judging tonight "but when she walks down the street, people aren't thinking plus size"

Tyra was shockingly sensible about it! But, they clearly wanted Whitney to talk about Her Pain and so that's what was wshown. I wonder how tall she is?

I think that Andrew has a point. It's one thing if the judges asked, but for her to volunteer that information was shitty. As shitty as Spike, frankly.

LEARN TO COOK RICE, PEOPLES! Okay, brown rice is marginally harder than white rice, but still.

SERIOUSLY! It's not that hard! I can do it!! And it really isn't that much harder than white. for real. I hate that Lisa. (And still REALLY hate that she has my name. bitch)

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

ANTM - I've been bitching to a co-worker about Whitney the "plus size" model who wears a ten. bleah ... she's not fat, she's just not emaciated. And did people notice that, after she'd won, she suddenly became a "full figure" model?

Also hated the pink dress - she looked like Barbie ... kinda hoochified Barbie.

But I'm glad she won.

Also - rice? it's not that hard; I can cook rice - a lot of the "trick" seems to be not messing with it while it's absorbing the water. silly people.

Art Crawl!!!

I wonder if Lisa had packaged the rice and sauce separately from the veggies/shrimp if she wouldn't have been called out for having "steamed" veggies rather than a stir-fry.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think calling anything that's going to be packaged & reheated in the microwave a "stir-fry" is setting yourself up to fail - stir-fry really has to be served right away or it's going to get soggy and unappealing.

True.

Looks like NBC's version of Top Gear is a mid-season replacement.

Another excellent line from Ted's blog:

And fear not, Andrew fans; I’d bet good money that you’ll see Andrew again. No way Bravo’s gonna waste somebody that crazy ….

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Top Chef:

I HATE HIM SO MUCH AND HIS STUPID STUPID HATS.

Needed to be said again. I was thinking about this, actually, wondering if I hated the hats because I hated him or hated him because I hated the hats. I didn't come to any conclusion.

I'm fine with any of those bottom three going. The other two can go asap, please.

Oh, and I disliked Antonia making that comment about Dale "only cooking Asian food" - whatever. .. she cooks an awful lot of stuff that she makes at home. (And it's not true - did he not make a Polish sausage dish for one of the challenges?)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, that pinged me, too, sumi. It's a no win for Asians on this show, because either they get accused of only cooking Asian food like Dale or of not cooking enough Asian food like Hung.

Everybody should just cook whatever tastes good and not worry about it, for themselves and for the other contestants.

Because books.

It has been pointed out with regard to more than Asian food, though. Ilan got a lot of remarks for cooking only Spanish-inspired stuff, IIRC. And of course there was Marcel and his foams.

But it's true that everyone should focus on their own cooking, and not each other's.
