Dude, I adore Colicchio. A Jersey boy, too! I didn't know that.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
My friend lives three blocks from that Whole Foods :)
I can't even remember the other scampi - do you guys?
I think it was over pasta. Pappardelle?
I have to give the Magical Elves props on the first episode. While I still don't know everyone's names yet, I was able to get a sense of almost everyone. I thought they did a much better job of getting all the cheftestants out there than they did last season.
I really can't believe they didn't know what piccata was! And I hope the one guy was kidding when he thanked the other guy for giving him the "recipe" for mayonaise.
Does Erik look like John Schuck or it just me?
HA! I did not notice that. I was too distracted by how much Ryan reminds me of JD Fortune.
And I hope the one guy was kidding when he thanked the other guy for giving him the "recipe" for mayonaise.
I...don't think he was. Sadly.
Finally watched the ep, and I'm still baffled by the picatta thing. Maybe his mom was a really terrible cook, and had a potato/tomato/chicken dish she called chicken picatta, I don't know.
Also kind of baffled by the "Oh noes! Souffle!" thing too. They're not that hard. For reals.

yeah, and what kind of idiot adds potatoes.
I've never made a souffle, but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing you can just conceptualize. Or no? Although I'm pretty sure I would have started with beating egg whites, regardless.
And I'm barely a decent home cook!
I'll admit I had no idea what piccata meant in terms of ingredients. I've never eaten it in my life.
I do, however, know how to make mayonnaise.
ETA: I wonder if the fact that Padma said her pizza was under-salted led Nimma to oversalt her shrimp.
