Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

I was very amused that, despite his immunity, Brian got called on the carpet for using lobster, then dismissed him.

Boy, that was a poorly constructed sentence, though.

But you knew what I meant.

I have to agree with Vortex. Just because she spent a few years living in the US while in MS/HS doesn't necessarily mean that she should be familiar with US comfort food. My husband's idea of home-cooking is still cazuela or lentejas. And if he wants comfort food, he's much more likely to go to the Chilean owned pizza place all the way over on the west side to get some empanadas than to go to the diner on the corner to eat meatloaf even though we've lived in the US for five years now.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

sytycd:

I thought Mary's dressing down of Cedric was pretty inappropriate. Hello judges, you picked him to be in the fucking competition. Yes, he has limitations and you've been driving that point home for 3 weeks. Don't shit all over him.

Rumor has it: Mia had a huge hissy fit with the producers and said she didn't want Cedric dancing to her piece because he just wasn't capable of following her choreography. I don't know if this rumor is true, but I found it interesting.

Now I want to have dinner at the perez's place for their home-style comfort food.

Art Crawl!!!

I loved that Brian got called on the carpet for not following the challenge despite his immunity.

I heard this rumor as well, but I have no sympathy for Mia. She and Nigel were the ones who fought for Cedric last week (and she was fighting to get him into the top 20 during Vegas week over Nigel's strong objections) and kept him over Jimmy who, IMHO, was the better dancer for THIS type of show. I think Mary was harsh, but she had already made clear that she did not want him to stay last week and she didn't vote for him, so at least she is consistent. No excuse for Nigel, who didn't want to put him on the show in the first place and then saved him two weeks in a row.

Yeah, but we all know Mary doesn't like him. Does she need to take every opportunity to call him out?

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

but it is only in the last few years that it's been on menus.

Not sure this is true. Wolfgang Puck put meatloaf back into vogue more than a decade ago.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I still think anyone should be able to make some kind of meat lump taste good. The concept is just not that complicated. It's not like she was trying to reinvision lasagna without ever having eaten it. It's meat lump! Do a version of the filling of whatever your native meat-wrapped-in-dough product is, you know?

Yeah, even with yearbook evidence, I'm still willing to think of her as a South African who did an exchange student stint. I'd need something harder than that to write her off as a poser. If nothing else, she's shown in the yearbook as being on the soccer team and the tennis team. Two more international sports that are played in high school, I can't think of.

She was still annoying, though.
