Not sure this is true. Wolfgang Puck put meatloaf back into vogue more than a decade ago.
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

I have to agree with Vortex. Just because she spent a few years living in the US while in MS/HS doesn't necessarily mean that she should be familiar with US comfort food.
I still think anyone should be able to make some kind of meat lump taste good. The concept is just not that complicated. It's not like she was trying to reinvision lasagna without ever having eaten it. It's meat lump! Do a version of the filling of whatever your native meat-wrapped-in-dough product is, you know?
Yeah, even with yearbook evidence, I'm still willing to think of her as a South African who did an exchange student stint. I'd need something harder than that to write her off as a poser. If nothing else, she's shown in the yearbook as being on the soccer team and the tennis team. Two more international sports that are played in high school, I can't think of.
She was still annoying, though.

oh, I'm not saying that her dish didn't suck and she should have been able to do better, I'm just saying that people calling her a liar about being south african because she lived in the US for a few years aren't being fair.

Perhaps, but I meant mainstream menus, should have been clearer.
Glad has little Top Chef videos, the one with Sarah N soaking her poor-Scotch Bonnetted fingers is particularly cute.
Also, since I'm watching both Top Chef and Next Food Network Star, when Micah got meatloaf and was wondering what to do with it, my first thought was "DEEP FRY IT! WITH BACON ON TOP!"
That probably would not have helped her, though.
Bwah!
I loved that on Food Network when the judges were all, "Ohhh! No wonder it was so delicious!!"

Oh, sure. Definitely.

psst! Not low cholesterol.
"DEEP FRY IT! WITH BACON ON TOP!"
Bwah! And then Padma could've been proven right that anything tastes good when it's fried.
