Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I did not like the twist. Just take out Rami. He should have been gone.
See, I really thought neither Chris nor Rami brought it tonight. Both of them were very limited, doing things that they had success with in the past. I would've been fine with Rami's auf'ing and Chris being in a final 3 situation, but I fully recognize that is just because I truly dislike Rami. Based on the merits of this challenge they both failed for amazingly similar reasons - repeating themselves and lack of vision.
The sad thing is that I think Rami has a good shot at pumping out three pieces that are more to the judges liking than Chris. (Totally unspoiled speculation here)
I was with the guest judge...it was reminiscent, but Christian has done so many reminiscent things all along and that was a great dress. I just feel like outside the person who clearly did a BAD JOB, the others have been just as guilty as Chris in terms of referencing previous work (e.g. Jillian and the fucking coats).
Rami is the one who just didn't listen to the judges comments and should have been gone. They explicitly told him to stop it.
Eh, wasn't crazy about the dress (either one). But I'll be sad if Rami makes it to fashion week, because Chris is a sweetie and I would love to see him show.
I don't have high hopes for the reunion show because with the exception of Christain and Chris (maybe Jack, but he was gone so quickly), this was a really boring cast.
In AI news, I agree that this season's cast looks strong. For the ladies, I really like Carly, I like the blonde nanny, I like the nurse/rocker chick (though she could get old fast), I like Asia'h. For the boys, I am in love with Danny Noriega, though I fear what America will do to him. Like Danny Hernandez quite a lot. I liked Chikeze(?) from the audition rounds but we barely saw him at all during Hollywood week. I am not a fan of the 16 year old boys on the show, but I saw a Youtube clip of David Archuleta singing "And I Am Telling You" to Kelly Clarkson in some hotel lobby and I was completely won over. Damn 16 year olds. He is gonna break my heart, I just feel it.
Although some liked him, I was sooo glad that Josiah didn't make top 24. I was already through with him and his faux Brit accent, and his crying jags, and his non-singing singing.
There were also a lot of "Who dat?" (half the boys) and crap people (almost all of the interchangeable blonde girls save the nanny) who got through. And was I dreaming or was that the Amazing Grace girl dropping it like it was hot during the ending dance montage? Because damn, I thought we were at the Playa's Club for a second.
Josiah - he reminds me of that crying girl who lost it in front of Sanjaya. He just cries and cries and cries.
True dat. Complete with the weird facial expressions.
In the abstract, I am sad for him because it sounds like he's gone through a tough patch of late. But I don't need that up in my idol.
There was a really pretty, pretty boy who made it through (Luke maybe?). Why couldn't we have spent weeks getting to know him rather than hanging out with Josiah and his car?
I hope this AI season is good. I already miss Melinda Doolittle. I loved her so much. Also I am glad Josiah didn't make it, though I was spoiled for that.
Carly has a great voice -- if only I didn't think she was being pushed so hard. It's not a spoiler that she was the one with the record contract and the Arista publicity machine behind her that utterly failed-- I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but GODDAMN was she getting a lot of camera time. I prefer Asiah and Syesha's voices.
I'm so mad that Rami is still in this shit. He showed the same fucking dress again. He has a lot of talent and his drapery is perfection. He showed some initative with the candy challenge, but that's the only time he didn't drape. Because he COULDN'T.
I loved Chris' outfit, and I liked the way that it straddled the line between couture and wearability. I loved how cute he was when Roberto Cavalli loved him.
ok, side note WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP WITH HEIDI'S HAIR. it was a mess!
Christian's outfit was clearly the strongest, as annoying as I find him. he has a lot of talent, but not a lot of maturity. His demeanor and way of dealing with people will hurt him if he gets his own line. He was always arrogant, but now he's insufferable.
ok, side note WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP WITH HEIDI'S HAIR. it was a mess!
Seriously, it was bad Farrah hair, that is, worse than good Farrah hair. If such a thing exists.
ETA: And the results were about what they should be. It will be interesting to see how Chris and Rami approach the competing-for-third element.
