Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Team Mellow

I did think they were about to tell the wedding party to chill out, man. They seemed a little taken aback by the lack of mellow.

Also, Jen is such a fucking idiot -- did she not know what a bridegroom is? Did she think in India elephants get married? I mean, seriously, WTF.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

CourtTV is changing their name to TruTV.

TruTV's identity will be fast-moving programming that tells real stories about real people. There's such a glut of reality programming with a wide range of styles that truTV is making an explicit point of rejecting the term.

TruTV isn't reality, its new slogan states. It's actuality.

"Reality has a connotation of not being real, of being phony," said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager of truTV. "We felt that because (our programming) was real, we couldn't call it reality."

You can't make this stuff up.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I'm finding TK and Rachel's level of mellow increasingly hilarious. I mean, boring, but hilarious. Also much preferable to the Amazing Showboating Hippies from a few seasons back.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Also, Jen is such a fucking idiot -- did she not know what a bridegroom is?

Exactly! WTF d'you mean, do I give it to the elephant? And her delivery recipient totally saved her ass, "Did you forget something?" where the Kynt's didn't correct him, although I'm willing to bet they knew what they were supposed to do, just went along with him since he was trying to be so solicitous.

I liked the showboating hippies, and I like TK & Rachel. But they crack me up sometimes.

VH1 is running an ANTM marathon for the rest of the week. Cycles 1-9. It started two hours ago here.

I'm so happy I just tuned in for Shandi cheating. "I did the worst possible thing"/"You had SEX?!?!?!?" "How can I hug you??"

Oh, the lolz.

In rewatching Cycle 1, I realized that I'd forgotten how bitchy Elyse was in the beginning.

I'm very grateful for my DVR. Without it, I might be forced to watch all the promos for VH1's upcoming reality shows, including Celebrity Rehab (!?!), Rock of Love 2, and the new Scott Baio as a dad thing. Early on in the marathon, I was tricked into watching an extended promo for the new Peter Brady/Adrienne Not-a-Top-Model trainwreck.

I love you, 30 second skip button.

I am watching live, and now I'm afraid I'm going to have to watch all those shows!!

I taped what I hope is S4 tomorrow, because I can never remember anything about that season, and for whatever reason, it comes up a lot at work.

I started watching ANTM years later. I caught up on the earlier cycles but I usually missed the first episode or two of the marathon. So I'm seeing lots of stuff I've never watched.

Like the bar fight at Barney's (my 'hood). I never even heard about that one!
