Hey, MTV is playing SYTYCD season 2, FYI.
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Guess who we saw walking round the Farmer's Market last night? Rafe, the gay Mormorn from Survivor Guatemala. Very tall, very adorkable looking.
MTV's SYTYCD marathon was awesome. I was flipping past and I thought they were doing season 3 again and then I saw Benji and Donyelle and was soooo excited. But watching it again just convinced me that this year's top 10 was much better than last year's (even with the Hunchback and Mischa Chan) but last year's top 10 was charm central. They were flat out entertainers, in the old Mickey and Judy, "Hey, kids! Let's put on a show!" mode. Oh and S2 choreographers kicked S3 in the ass. So many good routines that I had forgotten, especially the hip hop choreo . . . so much better than this year's crap.
I missed this week's Survivor just when it seemed like it got interesting. I hate challenge throwing, although it sounds like this one was more well thought out than most. And James survived, so that's good. All in all, I didn't miss it, I found. I'm just about ready to throw it over for Ugly Betty.
Cannot wait for Nov. 14 and PR. I have to root for the cat in the commericals who vowed that he would NOT make someone's mother cry. Hah! I love you a little already.
Historically, there are two things on Survivor that are ALWAYS bad strategy ideas -- throwing challenges, and being brazenly overconfident about your strategy at TC. And right now, PG and Erin are doing both. May their asses be bitten for it.
Oh, yeah. Just reading the recap description of the behavior both during and after the challenge throwing had me wanting to smack someone. I am hoping for a spectacular karma beatdown soon. I already couldn't stand Peih Gee, and for the life of me I still can't remember the other one. I have to agree with Miss Ali over on TWOP. Several episodes into this season I still feel like I don't really know any of these people. And most of the ones that I do know are obnoxious.
I'll give a little slack to PG and her minion because their tomfoolery kept Frosti around for another week and James, Frosti and Denise are the only ones keeping me even remotely interested in this season of Survivor.
OMG, Rich's video-in-lieu-of-recap for last week's ANTM might be the funniest thing I've seen all year.
ha! my bff was just telling me about this at dinner. She was hoping he'd recap the rest of the season like that!
I've seriously been singing "Saleisha" like "Aiesha" in my head all week.
No "Next Iron Chef" discussion? I'm shocked.
That being said, Ruhlman's blog has some interesting insight into how things went down.
Yeah, clearly cooking for a tv contest does not resemble cooking for a restaurant very much.
It's a shame that Kayson's dish got ruined before it got to judges' table.

Didn't watch it in real time, so I haven't caught up on it yet. Hopefully tonight.
