Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Asaf has got to go. What a dick. Of all the people they could have brought in at the last minute, why him?
So far the only dancer standing out for the good is Jaja. There are others I like but I haven't connected enough to match name/face.
Was kind of disappointed in the anniversary show tonight. I wanted to see more old routines (although I did see many favorites) I really wanted to see the Twitch door routine.
I am very saddened by the anniversary show! I was hoping for more dancing and instead it's all dance day and special Olympics and bad auditioners! Wtf.
Main takeaway: Comfort is a beast and could kick all the street girls asses.
me too, on the show.
and on Comfort
Same, same.
I had never seen that routine with Comfort, and it was amazing. Also, Jasmine! That was happy. And Alex!
The whole thing just seemed like a giant commercial for Knock, Knock, when it could have been a real celebration, with all the former judges coming back and more performances.
I would have loved an hour with all of the past people (contestants and judges both) just sitting in a room watching old clips and talking about them.
All the Seacrestiana in the show pissed me right the hell off and I wanted more choreo and more dancers from more seasons (Hello, Season cast. Why do they hate you so much?) but I got to see Mark from Hawai'i and that will tide me over for a while. I could've done without all of the auditions footage, good and bad, and just seen more dancing. And I also didn't need to see the Top 18 do primarily crappy dance for your life solos to the SYTYCD theme song.
All that said, the opening group number was simply gorgeous and I cried real, ugly cry tears the first time I watched it. Those kids are all so beautiful. I love this crazy show.
OK, I am only now watching the Detroit auditions (I'm thinking I can fast forward through all the non-dancing parts and catch up pretty quick) but it strikes me as a little weird that a professional performing dancer is "Street"
