Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
TAR: At least Tim of the Tim & Marie Squabble-off doesn't have many illusions about his partner's disposition.
I feel a little bit for her -- I don't like hard-boiled eggs, so I have no idea how long you're supposed to boil them. OTOH, I'd have the sense to actually
put them in the boiling water
if I was trying to cook them....

I am guessing/hoping that she was only holding them above the water for a few moments, long enough for the cameras to capture it and edit it together with Tim's comment.
I was also amused that Travis's makeup job on Nicole was significantly better than what Nicole did to his face.
Leo and Jamal have noone but themselves to blame for their last place. I mean, it's not like they've got really great beards to start with, but to go back to that nearly-hopeless needle/haystack they'd given up on?
I can only hope this means they don't make it to the Final Three, but then that would mean Tim & Marie definitely make it in. (It isn't that T&M are incompetent or undeserving of it, just that Marie is so continually unpleasant when she doesn't have to be.)
At this point, I'd root for Tim and Marie to get in ahead of the Afghanimals and who'd have ever thunk it? They have become increasingly unpleasant as the race has gone on, while Tim and Marie have maintained their unpleasantness threat level at a constant "Boo. You are not as good as past villains" pretty much the whole season and Tim, at least, seems like a not terrible person.
I have to pull for Boston to take it all. The ER Doctors have showed off a sanctimonious side these past couple of episodes that is not pleasant. Also, Nicole is kind of a doof at tasks. She gets really easily rattled and that annoys me to no end. Given that I pretty much enjoyed most of the teams on this season, we wound up with a pretty underwhelming bunch going into the finale.
The Afghanimals has grown on me, actually. Though they did not do themselves any good last ep.
Frankly (and I would never have thought this at the beginning, on either end) I will happy as long as it's not Travis and Nicole.
I really like Boston, but they need to get more competitive. Tim and Marie have toned it down some, and are good racers. The Afganimals are up and down, but have grown a bit less irritating since I think more of the sthick we see later in the race is genuine.
Travis and Nicole's weird sanctimony and fixation on the Afghanimals, and their personal dynamic, is so offputting.
I'm with Brenda. Wouldn't have thought it at the beginning but I just don't feel like Travis and Nicole are good racers. Tim surprised me last episode with how normal and yet accepting of Marie he was. It was interesting.
Restaurant wars! Jesus Mary and Joseph, what a disaster at Found. I am glad Sarah went home, since it seemed obvious the majority of the chaos was due to her not training the wait staff properly. Leaving the judges' table without explaining the food! The attitude! I got the sense that Shirley and Nina's dishes were almost as good as Nicholas' (and probably better than most other dishes at Fin) and kinda cracked up at how they just kept their heads down and cooked their food, away the clusterfuck doing a twister around their heads.
Fine, Travis. I will try to forget the creepy yellow fever thing from a few episodes back, since you clearly knew what you were doing being FoH.

Amen (so to speak). Must make the obvious joke and say they should have been "Lost" instead.

I got to go along with the judges and say that was the best FoH I've seen ofor Restaurant Wars. Or at least the best that also did a solid by the kitchen in the process.
Re: Found -- as soon as they spent all their time squabbling over décor and dishes and reached the market still without having decided upon a menu, I knew they were a disaster waiting to happen.
Found had too many leaders, not any followers.
Fin had a lot less ego all around that let them work with each other.
For the record, I was horrified to see a king cake on display in JULY. (OMG, king cake season starts a month from tomorrow!)
ETA: I've been to the Foundry recently, when I went to an Emeril Lagasse fundraiser called Boudin, Bourbon and Beer. It's on Tchopitoulas in the Warehouse District about equidistant (about a block in either direction) between Cochon and Emeril's.
