Overwhelming? How much more than whelming would that be exactly?

Seven pages of notes on SYTYCD. I threw most of it on my blog if you want to read lots and lots about very little. Short version:

I'm less happy with the boys top 10 than I wanted to be. I don't get Jade in the Top 20. He seems not to be that great in other styles and he's a teeny man and despite what Mia says, that is going to be a problem for partnering. But I got Tucker and he's gorgeous and he cut off the tragic hair so I'm happy.

I am more happy with the girls top 10 though many of them are just a blur to me right now. Love Amy. Love Mariah. Love Jasmine M.

I thought most of the intro routines tonight were really strong. I was annoyed by the Mia piece. It was awfully hair fling-y and flail-y. I was wanting more dance in the dance. Also, Malece was there and she's the worst. I thought both Stacey and Sonya put their respective feet in their intro dances. I don't know enough about tap to know if the choreography in that routine was good, bad or ugly but I enjoyed the heck out of that routine. I was glad to see no NappyTab fingerprints on my hip hop.

I was extra pleased with the boys top 10 routine. Great choreography from Christopher Scott and many of the boys were exquisite. Tucker and Nico, I see you both. I did not enjoy the girls top 10 routine. It was easy. It felt like high school dance team choreography. It was Fosse derivative in that way that Tasty loves (even though Tasty wasn't the choreographer) and I felt it didn't showcase the girls to their best advantage. Also, while I enjoyed the song, it felt like the kind of thing Ru would make her queens lip synch for their lives to on Drag Race which is great if I were watching Drag Race or if Ray Leeper had seen fit to choreograph a couple of death drops for these girls, but since that did not happen, I wasn't feeling it. I was annoyed that Sonya basically just decided to sideline anyone who wasn't a jazz or ballet/modern trained dancer by sending them off stage for large swathes of the Top 20 group routine while she choreographed a very traditional jazz piece for a select few dancers. Ew. That said, what she choreographed was lovely. Sad that there was way too much smoke to see the dancers' feet.

So yeah, I liked Top 20 Reveal show. Enough to write 7 pages of notes!

Fashion Note: Sparkly gold sequined romper that you yourself compared to something Roller Girl would have worn? Oh, no, Cat Deeley. No.

The Voice:

I only saw the last 20 minutes which included Cher and I saw who won so I really don't feel like I missed anything. Not surprised about, but disappointed in, who won.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, Danielle, then?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Yep. At least Michelle got second.

I loved the Bob Seger part, but that was more about Bob Seger than the Swon brothers.

Because books.

Did I miss something or did Adam *not* join everyone onstage congratulating Danielle?

Oh, I heard the wrongest thing related to this thread the other day: So, you know the whole Boston Strong, Whatever Strong, stuff? For the funeral for the MIT cop, Sean Collier, apparently there were signs that said Collier Strong!

Sparkly gold sequined romper

That was a romper? I was debating with myself whether that was shorts or a skirt...

I know. I tried to make it not be a romper, too. Tragically, it was, in fact a sparkly gold sequined top with three quarter length sleeves and sparkly gold sequined shorts connected at the waist by fabric, thus a romper. Clearly the devil's handiwork. I can understand why Cat decided to leave the crack smokers on the SYTYCD wardrobe team and start dressing herself, but really? This is not good.

Speaking of crimes against fashion: Cher. What? Why? Bieber style hammer pants and a dead animal carcass on her head? What? Why? No. I blame Kanye and Kim's new baby. Clearly their spawn has ushered in the end times.

Re Collier Strong: Oh, no. Well, there's an unfortunate coincidence.

Christopher Scott, man. Love. I'm sure they danced it well, but I kind of lose the dancers watching his choreography - in a thoroughly enjoyable way but my critical faculties go into a bit of a fugue state.

Can I just say, it is pretty awesome to be able to open a couple of tabs of the browser, fire up the DVR and pause after every routine to read y'all said about it. I was vaguely feeling like I should put more effort into watching live, but I might like this way better!

Thrive to spite them

Mom thought Cat looked adorable and that it wasn't that bad compared to some of the past looks.

I couldn't figure out what was going on with Cher's hair. Weird. Mom's comment about the song was, "She doesn't have to worry about forgetting the lyrics."

I don't know what the contractual obligations are for the non winning Voice contestants but I really hope that Usher both has the ability and the desire to continue to work with Michelle and help launch her career. He really seemed to enjoy working with her.

Plus it would make up for Justin Beiber.
