From last night's The Voice, unrelated to the actual competition, I like that Orlando gets to be "the classically trained singer who wants to give his mom a better life." He doesn't have to be one thing or the other -- "trying to get up from the streets" or "conservatory-trained." (SYTYCD, I'M LOOKING AT YOU.)

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Also, I get mad when they have backup singers.
I never understood that on Idol, either. I want to hear the contestant!
Man, I will never not love "Drift Away."
Also, I agree with Adam that letting go of the guy who sang Teenage Dream was a travesty.
I thought that was a really wild choice, and really well done. Although it did take me a minute to figure out what song he was singing.
When does SYTYCD come back, anyone know?
Soon! Mid-May?
Oooh!
I just saw an ad for SYTYCD. I think that it's the 16th.
The Voice: C Perkins, Dude, Stop grabbing your crotch
I have to say I was very underwhelmed by the knockout performances. Weird song choices, lackluster performances. And, yes, backup singers make no sense in this round especially.
Also, I found most of the pairings completely bizarre, with the result that we lost a number of "better" singers and potential audience favorites this round.
Still loving the coaches chemistry though.
