Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Oooh!
I just saw an ad for SYTYCD. I think that it's the 16th.
The Voice: C Perkins, Dude, Stop grabbing your crotch
I have to say I was very underwhelmed by the knockout performances. Weird song choices, lackluster performances. And, yes, backup singers make no sense in this round especially.
Also, I found most of the pairings completely bizarre, with the result that we lost a number of "better" singers and potential audience favorites this round.
Still loving the coaches chemistry though.
When does SYTYCD come back, anyone know?
Tuesday, May 14th, 8:00 pm. Be there or be square!
The Voice: I was sad to lose the dude with the beard but I thought he did a terrible job on I Don't Wanna Be (which is a song that desperately needs to be retired from the reality TV singing competition repertoire). I understood why Usher chose Cathia if he were just judging on that performance alone, but over the long haul, beard dude had much more upside. Bad decision. I also really thought Blake should've kept Grace Askew. Her I Can't Stand the Rain was imperfect but interesting. I liked what that dude did to Katy Perry's song, but I really thought the girl he was up against was great, too. That was a toughie, as Shakira would say. I wasn't really blown away by anyone last night.
On Idol, these girls continue to be pretty great on a season almost no one is watching due to all the judge and producer shenanigans going on. Mariah and Niki have been an absolute disaster and the Dawg is just as awful as he always was. Keith is pretty great, but gets lost in all the big personalities. They should dump them all and start over. But two of the girls, Candice and Kree, are some of the best singers they've had on the show in a while. And the other two are not bad, just not my cup of tea. I'm really enjoying them, if not the show or the lame themes or the judging.
Survivor was GOOD tonight.
Nothing like a HUGE blindside, right?
oh you said it. Loved it.
I loved how well she took it, too. She was genuinely impressed with how they all pulled it off, and went out a total class act.
I'll admit, part of me wanted Eric to give her his immunity necklace, because I really have no idea how he's still around.
