Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

Because books.

Seriously. These people are so lucky.

I can't believe the dad tore both muscle and Achilles tendon and managed to hobble over to his son last week. I give him a lot of credit for continuing, though.

I thought it was just plain silly that the show was trying to ratchet up the tension over who won the 4th course, when there so little time before end of the show that it was totally obvious that there wasn't going to be a fifth course.

We were watching a recording, and I wasn't paying attention to the time at all, so I didn't notice it. But looking back, I bet that's why they had all the filler stuff about the previous winners, etc.

I didn't hate the format -- I like a change now and then. It did seem like it led to a much less considered meal than finalists usually get to prepare, though.

Not javachik

I've been obsessively reading info about the HBO show, Enlightened, much of this afternoon, and was about to link to an interview with Mike White, the showrunner, for best use of The Amazing Race as metaphor in his exec. producer relationship with Laura Dern - then further digging uncovered that he is Mike from Mel and Mike, the father-son duo on TAR. !!! Wow!

"We have trust issues." Mylar

Man, Cancer Dad is hard core. When I saw him limping through that stream with a plastic bag covering his cast, I had to take my hat off. They may not go another leg, but the fact that they pushed through this one was amazing, pun definitely intended.

In other news, evil couple is evil. I sure hope they go home soon.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Mike White may be the most-famous-in-his-own-nongameshow-right of the contestants so far.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Maybe second only to his father, if you follow gay Christian stuff.

Because books.

Survivor: Does it look to anyone else like Sherri is wearing mascara? Her lashes are so dark and thick.

Also, wow. So much for loyalty. Although I can't believe Laura didn't see it coming at all.

Project Runway: I loved Michelle and Amanda's dress! And I was really surprised at the double aufing. Maybe they wanted to keep it to an even number for another week?

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I'm watching a ANTM rerun (Toccarra's season) and it is the go-see episode. One season, PLEASE, make all the models have to visit a plus size designer.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Survivor: Does it look to anyone else like Sherri is wearing mascara? Her lashes are so dark and thick.

I think she got her lashes dyed before they went--I also think she might have tattooed eyeliner.

I was not sorry to see Shamar go and I would have voted Laura "No Muscles" The Waif off myself.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Mike White may be the most-famous-in-his-own-nongameshow-right of the contestants so far.

Thanks to Pushing Daisies, I now always think of him as "Just some guy! Some guy who sure likes candy!" Before, I always thought of him as Mel White's son (which is kind of unfair, since I love his screenplays, but as a reader I "met" Mel first and that's how I filed Mike.)(Until Pushing Daisies.)
