Cyrus danced! It was good! Mad props to Travis for that, and I do love Jaimie.
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
1. Chehon and a song that includes the word pretty? Too much.
2. Flock of Seagulls much?
3. He was refreshingly bendy, though.
Did everyone catch the shot of George's proud dad in the audience? Yay! George is definitely my favorite now, and while he wasn't that raunchy in that dance, he did the best he could. I mean, he wears a bowtie; raunch is not really in his repertoire.
Eliana gets Alex Fucking Wong as her reward for weeks and weeks of Cyrus!
Okay, Alex and Eliana was incredible. Who thought Stacey Tookey had that in her? And Eliana was definitely not outdanced by Alex, wonderful though he was. Wow.
Oh wow, these bottom two couples kinda suck.
Man, to lose George after a solo like that, to the pec tech wonder? Man.
Pec tech?
I loved Eliana tonight. And the Bollywood was really fun and a lot sexier than most Bollywood routines, I thought. Dave Stuart's routine with Audrey and Twitch was fantastic, but they seemed like a bad fit as partners.
Alex Fucking Wong!
That is all.
Okay, that is not all. Also, does it seem like there was a lot of accidental gropage in this episode?
1 ballroom number after a week of all contemporary? Sigh.
I wish they weren't doing All Stars. I like seeing these dancers again, but they really do show up the contestants for the most part.
And, despite the fact that he didn't dance badly, I still think it's a crime someone like George is going before Cyrus.
Dammit, I love this show.
Oh, this week Cat is in dirty bubble wrap. Still not good.
Broadway Group number. Tyce, then? Eliana as Cyd Charise? I like it. Why was she only allowed to do developes in the piece though? Eurotrash Danny was spectacular in the dance, but it was Gene Kelly light tripe. And I said that even before I knew that Gene’s widow was in the audience. And Tyce himself is there on my screen. Why?
I don’t like the solo dance ins. Wow. What is Tiffany wearing? She looks like a whore. Oh, dear. Avert your eyes, kids.
Benjamin Millepied. This is Natalie P’s hubby, no? They are heavy on the ballet boys this year.
Tiffany and Brandon/Disco/Doriana/You Make Me Feel – Shit. So they want Tiffany to go home. And now we know why Tiffany is dressed like a whore. Thank god it’s because of the crack monkeys and not her own personal choice. This is actually not a terrible disco. She’s totally serving. She’s got attitude and Brandon is a beast. And the lifts are not terrible. There are too many of them, but they are doing them well. I kind of . . . enjoyed that a lot. Huh. Alright, Doriana. That was fun. I haven’t said that about disco on this show in a million years.
Witney and Nick/Jazz/Travis/Sing It Black – They took Nick out of mothballs? What? Who let that happen? I thought it was verboten to speak of season one on this show. OK, so Peanut totally engineered Nick’s return. He is on Peanut’s new reality show and they are irl friends. And damn, Nick’s turns were on point. Bitch always did have an incredible center. Still, if we had to have someone back from S1, it should’ve been Blake. Also, I do not enjoy Peanut in jazz mode. It’s very competition jazz. And I didn’t get at all that this was supposed to be about a ghost or whatever. It was just a lot of Witney standing there and posing while Nick danced so there’s that. Eww. All and all, I just didn’t like it. I think it’s one of the first Travis pieces I just did not enjoy at all.
Anya and Cole/Cha Cha/Dmitry/Glad You Came – Dmitry is a great choreographer and Anya is fire. But really with the music, Dmitry? Really? Nice little leg trick at the beginning where he rolled her around. He’s got decent hip action, but the fist pump was unfortunate. Anya is such a sexpot. I want that dress. This was the slowest cha cha ever. God, how I hated this music choice. I couldn’t even enjoy the dance, which was fairly intricate with good hand and arm exchanges as well as lots of work in hold, because the music was so, so wrong. I love when Mary gets technical on the dancers’ asses. And I agree his footwork was a little sloppy. Good point from Nigel as well about Cole focusing a lot of his energy and performance out to the audience rather than giving to his partner, which he often does now that I think about it. If he doesn’t go this week, he’s in trouble next week.
Jacob. Yay!! I did the full on gay gasp/cheerleader clap combo. Be still my heart. This kid is divine!!
Lindsey and Jacob/Broadway/Spencer Liff/Dancin’ Dan (Me and My Shadow) – All this fabulousness wasted on Lindsey. Shame. Shame. Oh my god. Jacob was truly fabulous beyond words. I did not even watch the blonde girl on stage with him. Look at him sink into that plie behind that screen and do that crazy heel stretch. Shit! Look at that boy’s toe point. Of the gods! Everything he does is so finished and carried all the way through to the pinky toes. He totally exposed Lindsey as second rate. Even that finishing pose, good lord. He just blew her off the stage. And really good Broadway with a Fosse feel without being a rip off, so good on Spencer Liff for showing it can be done . . . Tyce. And oh, Lindsey was not magnificent. Mary is full of it. But Nigel is so right about Jacob. Extension all the way through the pinky finger and the pinky toe. Shiiiit. Born to dance, this kid. That’s all.
High talker in the house. What what? Good All Stars so far.
