Alex Fucking Wong! I just hope the show doesn't break him again.
The ballroom kids that come on the show are also usually seasoned competitors and also teachers so technically kinda like pros. I think any potential edge the pros have is mitigated somewhat by the format of the show. Yes, they may be able to pick up choreography a lot more quickly, but dancing in an unfamiliar style is just hard, even if you are a pro. Also, most of the non-pro kids come from competition studios so they are used to picking up choreography super quickly and competing, usually every weekend/every other weekend. They also often cross train more than do other dancers who are specialists so that in a certain way gives them an edge over a pure ballet kid or ballroom kid. I think in the end it kinda all comes out in the wash.
I was not disappointed in Step Up Revolution, but I came in with the lowest of low expectations after the absolute crap that was Step Up 3-D. Anything would've been better than that. I'd definitely put it above 3 but below 1 and absolutely below Step Up 2 Tha Streets, by far the most superior of all the Step Up films.
I miss watching SYTYCD with Buffistas!
I don't actually remember Step Up 3-D, as I saw it on a plane while trying to sleep. So, it may have been better, I couldn't really say. I think my issue was with the utter unrealism--while I may not believe in things like a $100,000 dance battle, or whatever the previous ones have had as the big issue, believing that dancing is going to convince a developer not to build? Um, no. Y'all would've been arrested a long time ago.
I miss watching SYTYCD with Buffistas too...when is it over? I'll be back in September! Is the finale 9/5 or 9/12? Or are they counting differently than I am figuring?

No kidding.
Can I have him on my show So You Think You Can Dance With Mark? Because, for serious.
It did occur to me that we could do a Google plus hangout and have a multi-location communal watch. All you need is a Google plus account and (for ideal video interaction) a webcam on the computer. If anyone wants to give it a try tonight, holler (although it is the first day of school today, so things at home might be a little wacky tonight.)
I thought maybe the posts in here were because FaceOff started back up.
Oh, fun!
PS: I actually am here to make friends.

Yes please! I was just thinking about how great an assembly of my favorite all stars (Alex Fucking Wong, Mark, Melanie & Sasha, that krumper whose name I can't recall but whose dancing I loved, etc.) in a group number designed for them would be.
I am intrigued by this Google+ Hangout idea. Timezone issues, of course, but that is interesting.
So You Think You Can Dance With Mark
I wasn't really paying attention to the thread, and I thought you meant Mark, from Mark "Watches".
I wish Mark from Mark Watches watched SYTYCD but I imagine that it's probably not his thing.
I would so watch So You Think You Can Dance with Mark (and Friends). All day, every day.
WTF? Is Cole injured? Tice was in the opening number but Cole was not except the end, I think.
They said "slightly injured."
So, love that we get Brandon, but for disco? With almost no actual dancing?
The Witney dance was the first Travis dance that I've been really disappointed in.
I love seeing the all-stars, but they do have a tendency to make the actual contestants look a little shabby.
