Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

(too much pop psychology, and they pick the same style clothes for everyone)

This. THIS. I would love to see a show that focuses on helping people find their personal style, instead of dressing them in whatever is in fashion that looks marginally okay on them.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

You haven't really seen the show until you've seen someone have a breakdown about their hair. The last episode before this that I watched, the woman had a fit that her hair was colored a little darker. She was so invested in being a "blonde bomshell."

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I had never watched it, but I just watched the streaming episodes of What Not To Wear from the website. I am not very impressed with the clothes people (too much pop psychology, and they pick the same style clothes for everyone), but that hair guy is wonderful. Three for three, all the women loved their hair - it felt like them, but better. He should have his own show.

Which hair person was it?

information libertarian

Black guy, wore a lot of purple, shirt and tie. Super-sweet. He was a little addicted to the flat iron, but the women he ironed were the kind who would make the effort.

They all really seemed to like the blonde makeup woman, too, although she was a little too fakey-sweet empowering for my tastes.

Thrive to spite them

I like the new hair guy better than Nick the old hair guy.

Nick was okay but the episodes I've seen with the new guy he seemed to really put them at ease.

But since I've been watching there are all kinds of women who cry over their hair, usually they don't want it cut. But I don't get the emotional attachment to hair at all.

I like the new hair guy better too. He seems to understand that there are options other than "we must go short".

Is Carmendy (sp?) still doing the make-up? She's a little too enamored with lip gloss for my taste.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Anyone watching Breaking Pointe?

Do you think Allyson is just getting the "bitch edit" or that she really is that way?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

My hair grows so ridiculously fast that I can't ever get too upset about it, because I can change it completely in less than a year.

But yeah on the personal style. And to me, the stuff they want is just so blah. I can agree on changing some of the forms and whatnot, but there should still be some me in there. So like, I've tried to not be so scared to show waist, even though I think it looks bad. Obviously anything big enough to obscure my waist can only make me look bigger than I am. But I still feel a little weird about it, and I think I have to learn about waistlines.

I think maybe when I wear the dress for the festival I'll post a self-pic so you guys can see it. And I'm still wearing my Doc Martens, damnit.

Thrive to spite them

I've tried to be more adventurous when picking out clothes because I'd see stuff and think "I like it, but I could never wear it". So I make it a point to try one at least 1 thing I like but "isn't me".

And it turns out there's a lot of stuff out there that is me. Of course there's a lot of stuff I try on that doesn't look good.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I love Stacy and Clinton. I want them to come live with me and make me look pretty. I think so many of the people who come on the show are so clueless (or have such appalling taste) that the show is usually Dressing Yourself 101, rather than anything more advanced.

The haircuts usually just make me think "I would never maintain that at home."
