Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Okay. Well turns out I won't be watching SYTYCD through hulu or Fox.com.
I don't use a "participating cable provider" (Verizon or Dish) so I have to wait
30 days
after the episode airs to watch it.
Which is stupid. I can watch Master Chef the DAY AFTER it airs, on a streaming device as well! but not SYTYCD.
Who wants to wait a month to watch it? I don't and I think it's a stupid decision by Fox.
I tried last season to catch up on youtube clips but the music was generally taken out before I could watch. ANd I tried the live streaming thing but the quality was so bad it was like watching a slide show.
On Liese's recommendation, so far I am finding long clips (not just dances, but the runup also) up at mjsbigblog at 8am the day after the show airs.
I really miss watch and post, though.
I'll have to bookmark that.
Wait, why can't you guys watch it over the air? Also, participating cable provider is BS--I pay for cable but I only have a choice of my ghetto off brand red-lined cable. It's sad when you'd rather have Comcast, man.
mjsbigblog sometimes has the clips up pretty much immediately after it airs, and the text during. I just keep refreshing the page.
I can't watch OTA because I am in my inlaws house, and innocent as much of the show is, there would be raised eyebrows and the sexually charged stuff, especially like the (excellent) bellydancer.
I can't watch anything over the air here. Actually that's not true. I can get a PBS station and an extremely fuzzy station in French.
It was different in Tallahassee, I could get the broadcast channels. But not here.
I could get channels over the air, if I bought a digital converter box for my 20 year old TV. Or bought a new digital TV. And we haven't been able to decide which we want to do since about November.
We watch so little broadcast TV that it's not a big issue for us, except for SYTYCD. And the looming Olympics, but a lot of that will be streaming this year.
Does anyone else watch the Discovery series Auction Kings?
My bank account is very very lucky I don't live in Atlanta, and as it is, I already know that there is an auction the day before my birthday, and I was thinking about taking a trip somewhere this year.
The Great Escape: just finished watching the first episode: love.
Set up to record the next one - I was a bit confuse when Tivo identified it as "103" but apparently it is actually the second episode.
I love how puzzleriffic it is.
Oh, my god, this woman on What Not To Wear is so irritating. I hope the haircut makes her cry.
