Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Man, this whacked out religious cult going on in Survivor is just so beyond crazy.
Yeah, it really makes this season kinda a bummer.
yeah, I might not go that far, Nora, but it certainly makes the season weird to watch. I'm at the point where I am not really rooting for anyone and I'm puzzled by Coach's religious views - this seems different from his previous views.
I kind of feel like I should have stopped watching maybe 6-8 weeks ago. I effectively stopped watching X-Factor and I keep up through my entertainment blogs and I kind of wish I had done the same for Survivor. The survivor wikipedia entry is pretty good.
The finale is 4 days away, so I guess I will buck up.

I anticipate a severe drop in godliness now that Brandon is out of the picture. Coach's "God told me to vote you off! Redemption and shit!" was comedy GOLD.
Okay, is anyone else watching ANTM All Stars (by which I mean Pot Ledom, Srats Lla, of course)?
What the heck happened with Angelea??
Pot pot pot ledom!! NO one knows what happened to Angelea, on the Internet. Theories range from "got pregnant" to "revealed winner on Facebook" to "slept with Tyson while he was a judge" to "it's all a publicity stunt to make people actually talk about ANTM"
I know! I'm hoping for something exciting, but I suspect that she revealed that she won and is being punished.
I am a Christian who goes to church (almost) every Sunday. But the religious talk on Survivor always throws me, especially this year. They seem so into it. And maybe this is easy for me due to my lawyer-ness, but I would have no problem suspending normal rules of morality in a situation which is totally artificial and a certain amount of amorality is expected.
I hope we get to hear from some of the cult members and see if they were really buying this or just playing along for some reason.
I feel like Coach is stoking the cult fires, I assume because he thinks it will help him, but maybe not because he is so into it (although I haven't seen tonight's ep yet).
I don't think anyone here watches the show, but I am alarmed to learn that Howard Stern will be a judge on America's Got Talent next season.
I guess I will stop watching that show cold turkey.
