Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm sorry I decided to watch Project Runway in real time tonight. There was a lot I would have liked to FF past in the workroom. But the judging is fun.

I did not hate the loser's look as much as the judges did, but I don't think she's made anything for any challenge that really looks like her portfolio.

And we actually see Nina in the winning garment! That's awesome. And she looks good.

I don't know about next week...

PR: I wish Nina could be the client every week because she has the best stankface ever. And I loved her little "No". Diva. I enjoyed her in the winning look more than I thought I would, but I still think that's a lot of gold fabric for an office day look. Then again, I don't work at Marie Claire, so what do I know? (Although I wish I did, because Nina's boss is a hoot!) Cannot wait for TLo's Ninacaps.

I didn't think Julie's look was all that bad. I could at least see what she was going for. Bryce's was the worst of the bunch. Even if the hem had been well made, it still would've been ugly.

SYTYCD: I had a lot to say but I've been too busy to get here which is just sad. So now I'll just say that I was happy the Melanie won because she is fabulous but my heart broke each time one of the final four got eliminated and I think Marko and Sasha could've been solid contenders for the win any other season had they been in them (well, maybe not S2 because the Benji machine was unstoppable).

I was surprised that there were so many enjoyable routines in what has seemed to me a rather unremarkable season (from a choreo standpoint). But I agree with Megan that I might re-watch only a couple - the wall dance with Kent and Sasha, Melanie and Marko's statue dance, maybe the Marko/Allison piece by Sonya but that's mainly because the two of them are such gorgeous dancers. There weren't a lot of stunning pieces for me this season. In fact, the best one that got a repeat was the Sonya Top 10 girls. Love that geisha goodness - 10s across the board! Blonde Alex? Hell to the no!

S6 on Ovation is rocking my world. Jakob Karr. He was the truth. I still love Russell, but man, Jakob! Why is he not an All Star? And Kathryn and Ellenore? Shut up. That was a solid season of dance. I think it doesn't get it's due because it was the weird fall season experiment and it was interrupted by baseball and everyone was suffering from SYTYCD fatigue. But S6 is a rocking little season.

I still love Russell, but man, Jakob! Why is he not an All Star?

I think the bigger question is, why is Robert? He has zero charisma. The only thing good about him as an All-Star is he doesn't pull away attention from the contestant, unlike someone like Allison. Which, maybe I just answered my own question, but, damn, get him off my screen.

Because books.

Kevin was good, too, on S6.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

Aww, I adored Robert. I think he's a great dancer and I thought he was a lot of fun.

I do wish there would be more S6 All-Stars. I'm always glad to see Kathryn; I think she's almost as good as Allison. Give her a couple years and she'll be unstoppable.

Jakob was amazing. I adored him. I loved Russell too, but everything Jakob did was basically magical.

Ugh, Robert. Low rent knock off of a low rent knock off of Mark. I just do not enjoy that fool.

Some of my fantasy all stars:

S1

Blake - Gorgeous dancer. His Body Language solo is still one of the best ever!! I know he wouldn't do it. He's a choreographer (I think) on SYTYCD Canada now, but he would've been great

Artem - One of the best ballroom kids ever on the show.

Kamilah - She killed it on everything and was sex on a stick! She could give good disco.

S2

Ivan - I really enjoyed him as an All Star this season, more than I even thought I would. I didn't care for him much in S2 out of his style, but I always thought he was a sick hip hop dancer.

Dmitry - Love him as a choreographer, but he would've made a great All Star partner.

Allison - Obviously.

Natalie - She murdered everything given to her on her season. Joyous girl to watch. And towards the end of her season, she was dancing basically on one leg, knee totally busted up. Just a warrior.

Heidi - The original Fug Princess, she was an amazing partner and just grew and grew on the show. She'd really help non-ballroom boys do passable to great ballroom routines.

Donyelle - They need a great hip hop girl other than Comfort. Donyelle and Benji's Too Much Booty is still one of my favorite hip hop routines on the show ever! Sigh. I miss real hip hop on this show, y'all.

S3

Neil - The Hunchback can stay. He grew on me, even by the end of his season. And he has discovered the ability to pull up! Who knew?

Danny - All the time. Any time.

Pasha - See above.

Dominic - Hate his smarmy ass, but he is a great, great b-boy and an all out performer. I would also like to see him (or others from Qwest) choreographing.

Hok - Yes, please.

Anya - She can continue to be a hot tamale.

Lacey - Great partner. She makes her partners look like better leads than they actually are which is what you need in a ballroom partner on SYTYCD.

Jaime was kind of blah as an All Star this year and we all know how I feel about Mischa Chan.

S4

Twitch - Yes!

Josh - Yes!!

Mark - Hell Yes!!!

Will - Gorgeous dancer and gone way too soon. He could do anything. He would have to lose the baby dreads I last saw him sporting, though. That was unfortunate.

Courtney - Was a good All Star. Don't know why they didn't use her again this season.

Chelsie - Yes!

Comfort - Great hip hop all star.

Katee - Give me my double EE. She would be crazy good as an all star. Don't know why she wasn't one this year.

S5

Brandon - Please continue to be awesome.

Ade - Still kind of a forklift, but he's been good on the show.

Janette - Was so happy to see her pop up as an All Star this season.

Jeanine - She's so fierce. I hope they get her on the show sometime soon.

I went back and forth on Kayla, but she just has too much secret stank for me to put her in. Gorgeous dancer, though.

S6

It's crazy that no S6 boys have been All Stars. They had some great ones.

Russell - No doubt. Although he'd probably destroy anyone he was paired with in hip hop.

Jakob - Divine!

Ryan - Such a great ballroom boy. He would really help any girl paired with him shine.

Legacy - His Dave Scott caveman routine with Kathryn? Still fire.

Kathryn - More please. Gorgeous creature.

Ellenore - Was so excited to see her show up as an All Star this year. She was great.

My conscience will not let me put Fug Princess here, but I would not scream if she showed up as an All Star.

S7

Alex Wong - Small tear. Oh, poor boy. He's like Job. I kind of want him to stay away from this show because he's clearly cursed, but it would be great to see him back.

Kent - So good as an All Star and man has he grown up from the Wapokeneta Kid he was during his season.

TBC - LoFro is so, so serious. She's amazing.

S8

Marko - Will be heaven if they bring him back, which they should.

Jess - As a Broadway specialist, he is without peer. (Yep, better than Evan. By a lot)

Melanie - Clearly.

Sasha - (continued...)

( continues...) Duh.

I was on the fence about Mitchell, whom I adore, but there have been far better contempo boys. He's not All Star quality. Same thing with Tadd. He has been great, but there have been better dancers in his style in previous seasons. I was also on the fence about Ivetta. Great ballroom dancer, but she looks, quite frankly, too old. It would be like looking at the contestants dancing with their teacher.

I hated the All Star concept when it was first introduced and I still do, but if we have to have it (which it appears that we do) then these are the folks I'd like to see.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, I do have to say that this variant of the all-star thing worked much better than last year's, and I think it'll work better with the all stars' schedules, too. More logistics on the show's part, I suppose, but let me cry a little for their pain.

I'm glad they dropped the farce of drawing from a hat, but I wish that they'd (producers they) worked in a much higher challenge level with this season's kids. I realize this is an all-contemporary, all-the-time show in their heads, but we the viewers don't want it to be. The appeal is the variety, and they need to shake it down. I wish they'd stretch the dancers even more and include stuff like tap and ballet for the non-specialists. I know that you can't learn technique like that so quickly, and maybe that's just asking for more injuries, but it would shake out the chaff right quick.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

but I wish that they'd (producers they) worked in a much higher challenge level with this season's kids.

I dunno. You know what else was different this season? Lack of career-threatening injury! I strongly think this was due to the choreo.
