I love that they didn’t dance in, just walked in together. Such cutiepies. Aww. I love this top 4. Kenny Ortega is here. I just watched Xanadu the other night, so I am feeling the love for him. Katie Holmes is here. That’s the last I’ll be saying about that.

Mary’s weave is the most out of control ever!

Marko and Melanie/Disco/Doriana/I Feel Love – Really? We made it all the way through the season and they pull out disco now? WTf? Were they off the beat there at the beginning? I think they were. Why is this so slow? I mean, the song is slow, so I know why, but why pick this song? Ugh, that first lift was crap. And the dance moves in between, such as they are, look terrible. I feel like Melanie is only halfway performing and Mark is not even trying to get his John Travolta on. And the second lift is terrible, too. Third lift looked god in the air, but was crazy cumbersome coming down. And Marko biffed the final pose. Well, that was crap and they looked bad doing it. Yuck. First bad routine I’ve seen out of either of them. It wasn’t fun at all, Kenny Ortega. Are you blind or did you just fall asleep for a second? Thank you Mary, for bringin it real. The lifts were labored. Thank you, Nigel. They did not get the style at all. Neither one really embraced the cheese and became one with the cheese. Not a good way to start the night.

Why four routines? Are they trying to kill these kids?

Sasha and Mark/Contemporary/Sonya/Raise Your Weapon – Awww, yeah. Bring it, bitches. Mark is a beast. I can’t even. Just standing and stalking her, he commands that stage. I love the two of them together. Love the little loop around his neck with her legs and then they brought it down to a kind of crawling wheelbarrow. And you know, there’s nothing earth shattering about this choreo, but the two of them are riveting and therefore I was riveted. Not one of Sonya’s best routines, but she gave me shirtless Mark and he’s yoked like whoa and eyeliner and mohawk and holy hell! Seriously, Mary. The wheelbarrow thing was sick. I loved it. Sasha’s injured? Huh. I totally couldn’t tell. But these poor kids are so beat up by season’s end, somebody is always banged up by the time the finale rolls around.

Tadd and Joshua hip hop? That has the potential to be excellent. I’m excited. However, that means Melanie and Marko got royally screwed. That was worse than giving them Tyce!

Joshua and Tadd/Hip Hop/Lil C /Hustle Hard– Huh. I don’t think C has done his best work on the show and they are not krumpers, so let’s see. Joshua is destroying Tadd. Which makes sense because Tadd is a b-boy not a hip hop kid, but it’s so serious. Josh is murdering it and Tadd is there. Joshua? Nasty, just grimy. And Tadd looks like a kid. Why did he smile through the whole thing? It just did not sit well on him at all. I would’ve loved to see that same routine with Joshua and Twitch or Joshua and C. And Mary nails it. Tadd does have the sweetiepie factor, but then she pulls her punches because he did not get there on the hard. He was too mom and apple pie and he needed to be more Cousin TeRay and pork rinds. Good routine by Lil C, though. That was tough stuff. And Cat’s already giving Tadd the lucky loser speech. Well, she’s not wrong.

Melanie and Robert/Contemporary/Stacey Tookey/Sacrifice – Aren’t all her dances the story of unrequited love? This is typical contemporary mishmash. And Robert is featured more than Melanie. Is she hurt? OK, at the side by side leap, she finally started dancing, and it’s beautiful, but why waste her for the first half of the dance just standing around waiting to get lifted? That was weird. And Robert, you, sir, are no Mark. That’s never been more evident. You are not even a poor man’s Mark. I think Kenny Ortega will not be the only choreographer to want to bust down the door to get to Melanie. This girl will work and work and work. And it’s true, from the first time she showed up at the Atlanta auditions, she was a superstar. Shiny girl!

Starting with disco and ending with Wellington stomping...really? I completely agree with y'all that the more "experimental" styles should not show up in the final. Asking them to do 4 partnered routines plus a solo is taxing enough.

All that being said...how adorable and wonderful was Melanie? She is totally my choice. I adore Sasha too, but feel like I'm drawn magnetically to Melanie.

Also, HOLY FUCK, MARK. Wow, I like that look on him. My lord.

Right? When I saw him with Gaga in an AI clip, I felt the same fucking way. I mean damn. He makes me feel like a dirty old lady.

After seeing Mark and Joshua dance, I felt like we really saw MEN dance and it made the male remaining contestants seem much younger and much more inexperienced. They really paled in comparison.

I didn't really feel that way with the women former contestants in comparison to Sasha and Melanie.

Yes, Tadd's youth and inexperience really showed next to Joshua. He did a good job, but it lacked maturity.

And Mark was made of hottness. He needs to get Sasha a job on the Gaga tour.

Could not agree with this more. I mean, just look at the difference between clips of Mark on the show vs today. And I have been a Mark lover from way back, but it's like night and day. When he was on the show, he was a boy, and now he's a man.

Sasha and Marko/Broadway/Spencer Liff/Whatever Lola Wants – Love the dress on Sasaha. Well done, wardrobe hos. For a change. This is cute choreo. Broadway is so much better when Tyce is not doing it. Sasha and Marko don’t have a ton of chemistry, but they are both all kinds of adorable in this. Marko really got the character so, so well. He was great in that piece. Sasha, I could’ve used a little more slinky. She has a lot of attack but she lacked a little sophistication here. She needed more vamp. She needs to watch some Gwen Verdon. But it was fun. Katie loves when Marko jumped up? What? Somebody put a muzzle on that fool. I know I said I wouldn’t say anything more about her, but damn, she’s terrible. I agree with Nigel about Sasha (and I feel him on the Gwen Verdon shout out), but the Marko criticism was bullshit audience manipulation to get the girl winner he wants. Marko was fierce there.

Melanie Solo/Song for Viola - Baby Melanie with her dad was adorable! Just shut up, she’s so beautiful. The back bend? On her tippy toes? Who does that? What a gorgeous creature.

Marko Solo/The Fear You Won’t Fall - He watched SYTYCD on the internet? Aww, y’all. I love this kid so much! I totally forgot he was the kid who got shot. Wow. Awww, Danny did a solo to this song that I just loved and I thought it felt very Travis Wall. And I feel like Marko’s solo was very much in that vein. It was lovely and free and I just fall in love with this kid every time he moves.

Sasha and Tadd/Cha Cha/Mark Ballas/Raindrops – Hey, this kid is from DwtS! People seem to hate him on that show. Love the costume on Sasha again. That move of the leg extension and then bringing it down slowly is so tough. Takes so much strength. Too bad that was the best part of this whole dance. Where is the cha cha in this cha cha? I see a lot of standing around and posing cute. And the little bit of actual dance content in here shows tha TAdd is TERRIBLE. And Sasha is not much better. Hip action? Bad. Feet? Bad. Legs? Bad! Too stiff, too straight, not down enough into the floor. The music was weird and just wrong for cha cha. And what was up with the b-boy flip in there? Yuck. Oh, I love Ballroom Expert Mary. She is so right. That was dreadful. Too bad we’re getting the worst routines and performances of the season on finale night.

Sasha can bring sensuality tho. Her dance with Twitch was great. Maybe it was the style?

I wish that a trap door would open up and take Katie from us.

It's really sort of startling to me that she can't think on her feet at all, and has no communication skills.

She married Tom Cruise. That's when I knew that there was no hope for her. But, it seems to be working for her, and she's got a new movie out.

Oh, I definitely think Sasha can bring a great sensuality and connection with her partner. Yes, to the hip hop with Twitch and I would add Tyce's wall dance because that was just amazing chemistry and sensuality and she was everything in both of those pieces. I just think she didn't bring that tonight to the Broadway. I also think there is a difference between sexy and vampy. Vamp is a whole vibe, kinda with a wink underneath the sexy and I don't think she had that at all. There's a knowing sensibility that was lacking for me in that Broadway. I think you're right that maybe the style just didn't fit her.

Marko and Lauren/Contemporary/Tessandra Chavez/Shirk – New choreographer. Another one. Interesting choice for the finale. Wow, I like it right from the beginning. The roll on the floor when she’s hanging onto his ankle? And the little hops back while the shoulders are shrugging? The lift, lift, lift as they are turning? Wow to all of that. Tessandra wasn’t lying when she said this routine was going to be tough. It’s incredibly technically demanding plus interesting movement. Not always what would be expected. And they totally lived up to it. TBC is just phenomenal. She’s so tremendous. And I always love the way Marko commits 100% and throws himself so deeply into his contemporary pieces. He’s fabulous. First routine of the night I feel like I will watch again. I wasn’t wanting anything.

Tadd Solo/Mamma Knows Best – His power moves are impressive and this kid is just personality plus. He’s so enjoyable. His solo’s are just fun.

Tadd and Melanie/Jazz/Ray Leeper(?)/Show Me What You’re Working With – Melanie is shutting it down with one shoe on. Fire. That was cute and sexy and fun. Melanie was putting in work. Tadd had a lot of walk around choreography, which is a shame because I do think he’s more capable than that. The judges are right that Melanie was in it from moment one when she pulled that shoe off. However, the routine was a trifle. Totally forgettable.

Sasha Solo/Be Be Your Love – Speak of the devil – Fool of Me is back. Sexy. For days. Wow. Her best solo ever. She’s exquisite. I don’t even know. How do you choose between her and Melanie? I don’t even know.

Sasha and Melanie/Contemporary/Stacey Tookie/Heart Asks Pleasure First – Stacey again? These two should just dance together all the time. I love the lifts. This is actually a gorgous piece. Best choreo we’ve seen tonight. Love the mirrored section with Melanie downstage and Sasha upstage. That was gorgous. And they were so perfectly matched. There is not a sliver of distance between them. How do you choose? Great musicality from these two, yes. They would be lovely in a company, yes. Yes to all of that.

Stepping only works with a large group. Two people stepping is stupid.

Marko and Tadd/Gumboot Stepping/Chuck Maldonado/B.O.B. – OK, stepping is not hip hop. So bad. Oh my. So bad. I’m embarrassed for them. Make it stop. There’s not point to stepping if you can’t hear it. And then the flips and shit just looked ridiculous. And Tadd doesn’t know the routine which is just sad for him on every level. And they were never in synch. And they were never clean. It just was awful. What a terrible idea. Whose idea was this? Somebody should be getting fired right about now.

That’s it? Well, I was underwhelmed. But then again, I always am on finale night.

How will it shake out? Hmmm, I don’t know. I think it will be:

4th Place: Tadd

3rd Place: Marko

2nd Place: Sasha

1st Place: Melanie

But first and second could easily flip. Or Nigel could overplay his girl winner hand and Marko could take the whole thing (unlikely). Or Tadd could call upon the might Pinoy Power to take him over the top (even more unlikely).

I expect tomorrow to be a much better show. I want to see the Kent/Sasha wall dance and the Melanie/Marko statue dance at the very least. I have to think on what else I want to see. There was a lot of good stuff this year.
