Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

MY BiL is a chef and he likes it, but so much of it is not cooking, or cooking something you don't particularly love. Ordering ingredients, managing staff, budgeting, etc. are a big part of being head chef anywhere.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

When they had the two teams cooking in the Patina kitchen, Ben admitted he was in over his head. He really didn't like the rush, the pressure, the shouting. Suzi was smart there - she saw he was floundering and offered to switch stations.

Well, I guess Ben will go back to cooking for love (the word "amateur" comes from the Latin word for love ... amo, amas, amat and all that).

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Suzi was smart there - she saw he was floundering and offered to switch stations.

With some prodding from the judges.

Art Crawl!!!

The F Word started up again on BBCA.

Also, you have convinced me to watch Masterchef online. I am home sick today and this seems to be what I want or possibly need to do. (Stupid headcold.)

Art Crawl!!!

Oh, I forgot: Joe Bastianich is in business with Mario Batali. Have you guys been watching "Ciao, America"? They did Sunday supper with the combined Batali and Bastianich families on the most recent episode. (Cooking Channel). They had all the kids making pasta - it was cute.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

sumi,

do it! it is so much better than Hell's Kitchen and Beau likes it (Beau doesn't like much outside of Farscape).

Thrive to spite them

I'd love to be able to see Masterchef UK. I watched the first series and I really liked it. It's very different from the US show. For example contestants compete in heats and only the winners from each heat compete for the Masterchef title.

Also the challenges are different. In the first series contestants were often asked to identify by sight various things - like herbs or whole fish. Which I would love to see on the US version.

Because books.

My mom LOVED Masterchef UK. And I just noticed The F Word on BBC -- I'm going to try to catch one.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Last night Gordon Ramsey was introduced as "the many who put the 'F' into food (foodies?)".

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

askye,

well thanks for that recommendation. I'll have to internet surf for the BBC version. I wonder if it is on netflix?
