I so want Danny to win. Well, I always did, but after tonight? It will just be criminal if he doesn't win.
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Whoa. Do-over? Did not see that coming.
I know! And it's totally awesome. That competition's fowled up nearly everybody, every season. I'm curious to see how it flies with the second shot.
I don't understand why they hated the girls' number so much. And I was annoyed that the boys spent half the time sitting in chairs. Although they were totally about to get dirty. And I loved when Danny winked when he said "This is for you, Nigel," or whatever the line was. I like when Danny gets campy.
Jesse is totally me, even down to thinking (before I saw this post!) that Danny is campy. I mean, "We Are the Champions!" Last week's solo was all a satire on Neil! He doesn't get enough credit for that.
And, agreed: there needs to be more homoerotic dancing on this show. It's a missed opportunity. The Mia dance really shone whereas the others were not nearly as interesting. (Well, Wade's was interesting, just not enough dancing. I don't even understand how you can judge a fucking FLOWER but not a fox. This was the same reaction as the goggles dance, and I DO NOT GET how it's distinguishable from judging other modern dances.)
So, does that mean that they've got much higher expectations than they had for seasons 1 and 2? Or just that they are so even that neither really did better than the other?
And bringing Dale and Brian in -- that was just cruel.
I just watched the Princes routine a couple more times. That was like the best chemistry in a while! I would like to see the routine with Neil a little bit sharper-- maybe he'll get it on tour. Now I want to got to the tour! Jesse, kat?
After last week, I was sure I was going to be for Sabra. Now I'm torn. The judges were saying how Neil peaked at the right time (I think it was Neil). Anyway, I think Sabra peaked last week. She looked so exhausted this week, and pale. She was still wonderful, but not as wonderful as she was. This week, I'm leaning Danny. I do think that this was the best week for both Lacey and Neil, though. Not that they were best, but that it was their best.
I know nothing about dance, but I really liked the foxes dance. And no, I wouldn't have gotten that they were foxes, but I think I would have gotten some kind of animal. I liked the waltz. Not so much the lindy hop. I liked the second half of the cha cha, but thought Sabra and Danny looked awkward together, which was even more disappointing because I had high expectations. I don't know what to say about Mia's piece. I didn't like the dance all that much, but Danny and Neil were ssssmokin'. I agree that there should be more same-sex dances.
I'm not sure how I feel about this do-over. However, in looking at next week's previews, it seems that Brian is FOH again. Is that really a wise idea? I would've swapped them out and put Casey out there. She seemed much more in command when she came out during this episode.
SYTYCD: I've been kind of assuming Neil would win, because of the little girls, but Lacey's the only one who's never been in the bottom three. Although, Sabra hasn't been since the first week. [link] I was confused by Nigel's "It would be great for a girl to win/it's about America's Favorite /Lacey, you have all these issues" dance.
SYTYCD: I wish I'd been able to do the watch-n-post, but I was glad to FF through all the filler. I was really irritated by the craptastic camera work this week. I kept thinking, "will you just keep the @#$! camera still and stop jumping to one view after another so I can see the flow of this damn dance!" Seriously, too many shots where I couldn't see feet or had to figure out the orientation.
That said, I hope that Neil and Danny do the Princes dance on tour.
Kristen - I agree. I was thinking about who got canned the last two challenges: season 1 - Miguel (bad sous cheffing) season 2 - Mikey -- wasn't he FOH?
I think that Tre, Brian and Howie might be the three worst of the day. Sara's lamb didn't help but at least it wasn't burnt or congealed. (I can't believe that Howie defended putting cream in risotto.)
Oh, and I'm imagining that next week they'll have the do-over and an elimination and then, another elimination challenge. Totally possible, right?
