Mondo's outfit was cute, but it did scream "juniors" to me.
Don't teens go to the beach too?
It drives me bonkers that the designers are supposed to design for a very narrow and poorly defined age range, and are raked across the coals if they dare to deviate from Nina's idea of what is "young but sophisticated."
But I think "resort wear" is different in terms of customer. "Resort wear" says to me, essentially, woman of means shopping for a fairly luxe vacation.
Teens go to the beach, yeah, but most teens shop for summer at Forever 21 and Old Navy.
I could see a young Fergie (the singer) in Mondo's outfit. Someone in their 20s. The bikini screamed Katy Perry to me.
Ivy also styled her model terribly. The only halfway interesting thing about that look was the shoulder, and having the model's hair down totally obscured it. She would have been so much better off if she'd had some poor construction to point to rather than stripping her design of all personality so it would be something Mike D (I know that's not what PR calls him, but it amuses me) could sew. It's interesting that no one was taken to task for construction/fit problems, at least that we saw.
OTOH, I don't need to hear the phrase "thrown under the bus" ever again.
Kors calling her a seamstress? Ouch. I thought for sure that was the kiss of death.
I think it was Nina that said you could get a look like Mondo's at K-Mart. Which, also ouch, but as soon as she said it I could see what she meant. I did think it was cute, but nothing special.
I cannot wait to see what "MC Hammer meets Beverly Hillbillies grandmother" looks like.
Just Desserts is giving away dessert through OpenTable today (but you have to buy dinner first):

Huh. That was..well, okay.
(Top Chef. Survivor will have to wait until tomorrow.)
Yeah, I was ... half interested. Definitely wanted Angelo to shut up about being sick, though.
Just Desserts looks interesting so far. I have to love Gail for (I assume) spearheading a show about dessert. A woman after my own heart.
Huh. That was..well, okay.
Yeah. I think the editing monkeys have been busy this season making people really concentrating on cooking into some kind of soap opera, because they all seemed pretty good tonight. Certainly the food was one of the better finals at least per the judges reactions.
Masterchef: Yay!
Top Chef: Huh.
Pretty in keeping with the rest of the seasons I guess.
