It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

kat, I believe Sara may have been wearing those earrings.

I feel bad for saying this: Neil's body pretty much forced me to like that routine. Kid looked sexy for the first time ever.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I just found the piece to be so much fun that I didn't really care.

Sometimes, that's all it takes. Let's hope the voters feel the same.

She is hugely popular in her own right and she gets all of her brother's votes from last season. And he sealed the deal as soon as he showed up on stage with his shirt off.

After seeing the reaction here to Mia's routine, though, I'm willing to bet there won't be as many voting for them this time. I think contemporary dance routines lose dancers more votes than dancing poorly does, no matter how good (or not) a routine it is.

Eh, I'm just getting too attached to the dancers I really like. It's getting harder and harder to decide. I voted for four people tonight; it made me feel like I was cheating on my favorite, but I don't want to see any of those four go home! Not yet, anyway.

All that was missing was big, gold ropes and bamboo earrings (at least two pair!)

oh, but they were there. Just the one pair, though

for me contemporary just looks like a lot of running and flailing and throwing themselves at each other. The only contemporary dance I've liked was the hummingbird/flower one.

Agree! I think Neil locked it up last night, modern or no.

ETA; tonight! where is my head.

This season or overall? Did you not like the Travis/Heidi bench dance last season?

I think I missed that one. I've seen snippets, and it looks interesting.

You can see it at the below link. It was one of my all-time favorites.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

I wasn't blown away by the hummingbird contemporary this season and I'm not a huge fan of the Travis/Heidi bench dance from last season. I did love the Ivan/Allison "Why" from last season and I loved the first Mia contemporary this season with Lacey/Kameron. I think a lot of contemporary on this show winds up being a lot of flail, flail, run, throw your hair around. And even that can be good and engaging with good dancers (I'm thinking of the Ashle/Melody "Message in a Bottle" contemporary by Mia waaaaay back in S1). I just think most of the contemporary this season has been tired (Shauna/Cedric by Mia, Danny/Anya by Tyce) or has been well choreographed with dancers who couldn't deliver (Neil/Lauren goggle dance).

oh, but they were there. Just the one pair, though

Well, shut my mouth and call me LL. Yet another reason to re-watch this dance.

I've loved contemporaries in teh past, but it tends to be very hit or miss for me. And I didn't love Mia's tonight. I felt bad (and i LOOOOOOVE mia) but it didn't do much for me.

I think it's the tendency to point his toes at the end of every movement, even if it's supposed to be flat footed

Yes--there was a contemporary where he was doing the flat-foot thing, and I could practically FEEL him doing it

And. HAMMER DANCE!

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

The only dances I didn't really like were the hip hop (which was largely because of Danny, bless him) and the contemporary, because I didn't think they danced enough. I thought the rhumba (lack of rhumba notwithstanding) the latin jazz and the argentine tango were all very hot, and apparently I am willing to give a pass for hotness.

Pasha and Sabra are totally my favorites this week! I thought Pasha did surprsingly well at Broadway, and Sabra picked up the quickstep well too. Also, they sure love putting Dominic in those pants, don't they? I bet he never knew he had a flowy pants-wearer in him.
