It was a heck of a lot more fun than the palate test they did on HK. That said, I enjoyed it only marginally more here than I did on HK. Thought that one green fruit was really odd looking. Looked like a big old green booty.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Argh -- if there was one thing I was NOT going to do tonight, it was watch the supersized TC. I can't walk away!
Woah. Didn't even realize it was past 11. Damn fine episode, TC. Now if we could just get rid of Howie, it would be a sunshine day.
Pasha and Sabra totally captured my attention tonight. Mostly Sabra, but Pasha kept up with her in the Broadway and then made her look even better in the Quick Step, so I gotta give him mad props. The unison and the tight positioning really brought that dance into the stratosphere. There were times it looked like you couldn't even slide a quarter between Pasha and Sabra, which is the way it should be. It's the first ballroom dance I felt they didn't have to dumb down even one little bit. Sabra has got my heart, now. I want to see her win. Pasha's still a cutie, though, he'll be here another week.
I like Danny and I think he can partner with absolutely anybody, but there are some dance forms that he just doesn't look right in. It's not that he doesn't get it technically, it's that somehow it always looks like ballet even if it's not supposed to be. That's how his Hip Hop looked to me tonight. I think it's the tendency to point his toes at the end of every movement, even if it's supposed to be flat footed. Even if he doesn't, he looks likes he's thinking about it. Sara just didn't thrill me tonight at all. I didn't feel her in the Tango and it really had no heat for me. Danny was burning up the stage and Sara was raining all over it turning it to mud. It made me wish Anya was still partnering Danny. I think Danny is safe this week, not sure about Sara.
I haven't lost the Dominic love. But, he is so out of element at this point, everytime they put him in a ballroom dance they have to dumb it down further and further. I think he's an incredible B-boy and I think he can work with quite a few of the other forms quite well, but the ballroom is going to kill him. Yeah, I think he'll be in the bottom four tomorrow for sure. I wish I could say the same for Lauren, but the boys are going to vote for her costume in the Rumba.
Personally, I liked the Mia routine. I watched it twice and it made me tear up each time. I would have liked to see a few more actual dance moves, but I think Neil and Lacey did a good job getting the emotion across. That being said, I think they're both going to be in the bottom four because that's the only time I've felt any emotion from them. Their Latin Jazz had a lot of passion, from the choreography, but no heat between the two at all. They spent more time flirting with the audience than with each other. Whether or not that will turn the audience off of voting for them is another matter.
I think there is no way that Lacey or Neil will hit the bottom four this week. She is hugely popular in her own right and she gets all of her brother's votes from last season. And he sealed the deal as soon as he showed up on stage with his shirt off. Which, I'm no Neil fan, but boyfriend is ripped! He even had that Usher Raymond-boy muscle working.
Sadly, I think there's no way that Danny and Sara will escape B4 this week. I think he knew it, too, when the judges were critiquing their hip hop. He looked so sad and worried, running his hands back and forth through his hair. Poor noodle.
I really enjoyed the Danny/Sara hip hop. Thought it was fun, but I do see the point about Danny fundamentally not being able to lose the ballet from his movement. This was the thing that really put me off of him early on. I remember the Danny/Anya jive and every time he did those flicks I just . . . gah. And points in the dance when he was really supposed to get down into the movement and it looked like he was preparing to drop into a gran plie. I think he's gotten a LOT better at adapting to different dance styles, but it still comes out. I actually think he was better in Dan's hip hop, which was much more stylized to the point that it almost really wasn't hip hop, than he was in this Shane piece. I just found the piece to be so much fun that I didn't really care.
I mean, they had me at Hammer Dance.
Puffy, air-brushed t-shirts that said "Push It"! Red Kangols! Black spandex pants! All that was missing was big, gold ropes and bamboo earrings (at least two pair!)
SYTYCD: I really liked Lacey and Neil. I thought that they were good together. I didn't like Mia's routine as much as everyone on the show seemed to, but I did like it. I tend not to get sensuality from Lacey, so that was good here. I thought she was probably the best match for Mia of the group. It was kind of weird thinking of Neil as her father, but I thought he did well with it. I was nervous the whole time that someone might slip on a flower, though.
I adore Sabra, but this was not her strongest night.
I loved the Quickfire, although I really do think that the blind taste test that they had in season 1 was more difficult.
And I was so happy with the top 4 - if those 4 really wind up as the finalists I will be very happy.
Also, Howie worked poorly with Casey and with Sarah M. I think he, like Joey is somebody you have to hit over the head with a knifeblock before they'll listen to what you have to say.
I'm so pleased that Joey is out of there.
kat, I believe Sara may have been wearing those earrings.
I feel bad for saying this: Neil's body pretty much forced me to like that routine. Kid looked sexy for the first time ever.
