Done. Jakob and Ellenore should just dance together forever, I'm convinced of it.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

The second Jakob and Ellenore piece aside (because that really was in a different class), I thought Russell and Mollee's jive was the best piece of the evening--it was nice to see Russell be able to shine on his own right from the start, and I thought they both killed it.

I actually feel kind of sorry for Nathan--he's a really good dancer, and I think the way he's being treated would be hard on anyone. It does make me wonder if he's kind of a douche though.

SYTYCD:

BTW, I thought there was no top 4 and the finale would be a top 6, but I'm not sure now.

I have also heard that they are going with a final 6 this year and not a final 4. I think they need to have this whole shebang wrapped up by the end of December so that Idol can kick off in January. As much as I love SYTYCD, I think it was a mistake to do the fall season for lots of reasons.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I agree. This was too close to the previous season and now they have to rush and finish it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

SYTYCD: Oh, that dance! I just want to watch Jakob & Ellenore dance together all the time. The strength! The grace! The expression! My body was all tensed up because I just could not believe they were executing what they were at that level. Love.

I agree with most of what you said, Kat, except that I still would put Nathan in the bottom instead of Russell. Russell! That solo is what it's like to bring it. Anyway, I feel a tad sad for Nathan and I can still see some of what I fell in love with him, but I haven't gotten over my pique at him yet.

Mollee needs to go. But I think Ashleigh might. I didn't think Ryan was all that bad, honestly, but that's probably at least partially tainted because I think he's hot.

I actually liked the weird battle contemporary piece. I thought it required a high level of skill and I enjoyed it.

I also thought that the pieces that got really slammed were totally on the choreographers, both the Dave Scott piece (what?!) and the rhumba. They can only do what they're given.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

After realizing that my irrational dislike of Jakob had completely vanished, and wondering why Legacy was suddenly less appealing, I have decided that Ashleigh is an albatross who should have been shot long ago.

Because books.

My favorite non-dance bit of the evening was Shankman trying to explain his amusement at the married couple winding up with each other's partners after the switch.

Hee, yeah. That bit went on way too long. I was just laughing, and everyone was so befuddled.

Oh, I absolutely do not want to see Russell in the B3, but Nathan is cute and he danced well last night and he cried, so I believe the little girls will vote for him and keep him out of the B3. And since I just can't see any way that Jakob could land in the B3 after the night he had, that leaves Russell with the undeserved trip to bottom-town (which sounds way pornier than I intended)

I actually liked the weird battle contemporary piece. I thought it required a high level of skill and I enjoyed it.

I thought it was very technically demanding and I admired Legacy and Ashleigh's work in it. FP, especially, brought it in that number in ways that I didn't know she had. But I didn't like it. Just aesthetically, something didn't sit right with me. It reminded me a lot of Mia's piece for the Hunchback and Mischa Chan. The one where they were wearing goggles and sleeveless white button down shirts? Super demanding, really fast, aggressive choreography. And while I could appreciate the skill level of both the choreographer and the dancers, I didn't like the piece. It will never be one of the routines that I rewatch on youtube, no? Same thing here. Still, I'd like to see more of this new choreographer on the show. He's got an interesting voice.

They can only do what they're given.

Thank you. I'm glad that they are calling out some of the lame ass choreography this year because it's about time, but don't penalize the dancers for that. How much can they do with hip hop vampires in full on Dracula cape?
