Jag is so gay, holding hands with Paul all show! (Was it here that people were speculating about his exit from the Marines?)
Yes. I know that in the episode where Paul and JAG were working together, and they made their deep-fried meatloaf, there was a comment Paul made in his interview about JAG being his "little Marine buddy," that set off a huge light bulb over my head. After that, every little thing seemed to confirm it, from the "things about his past he didn't want to talk about," to how well he got along with Rachel Ray and how much better he performed in front of a live audience.
It's also clear it's something he's not accepted about himself yet, though maybe his holding hands with Paul means he's starting to get over that.
how well he got along with Rachel Ray and how much better he performed in front of a live audience.
...I'm not even sure what you mean by that. The Gays perform well in front of audiences?
Okay, that does sound really stupid.
I don't know, there was something about
how
he seemed to come out of his shell when put in front of actual people (as opposed to just a camera lens) that clicked like one more piece in the puzzle for me.
But that too could just as easily be something that happens to a straight person, so the comment is still stupid.
Nevermind. I clearly have The Stupids.
Just when I think I couldn't love him any more!
Crap. The text keeps cutting off between the frames on that page. Anyone else having a problem?
Jag is so gay, holding hands with Paul all show!
Yeah, if I hadn't suspected before, that would have pretty much clinched it for me. That and all of the shirtless antics in the clip reel -- do straight guys spend that much time gigglingly putting things down each others' pants?
Agent Mark Somers, (Code Name: Unctuous Haircut)
I don't even watch anything on Food Network so I have no idea to whom Bourdain is referring, but by God that description is a thing of beauty.
Hec and I were talking about Bourdain the other day: he's living the dream life that so many Buffistas deserve, having found people willing to pay him scads of money, essentially, just to be himself in public. He totally needs to set up a foundation, and then award a grant to the House of Reason, among other worthies.
I can't remember which came first, reading Allyson's pitch chapter ("Save Firefly") or
Kitchen Confidential
but I remember noting when reading one or the other that she and Bourdain have written similar memoirs. Allyson should have a "No Reservations" but for fandom.
