Angel: You know, I killed my actual dad. It was one of the first things I did when I became a vampire. Wesley: I hardly see how that's the same situation. Angel: Yeah. I didn't really think that one through.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I'm counting on a breast lift at some point. It is primarily medical since I have a messed up shoulder but the cosmetic aspects are appealing too.

I doubt I would do anything to my face... but a lot of that is genetic luck -- my family ages gently, my nose is proportional, etc. If my jaw line disappeard completely or I got jowls (both seem unlikely) I'd consider it as I understand they are among the less-invasive procedures.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I haven't, but my mother had a nose job (which I maintain was evil, even though she got it a decade before I was born) and an eyelift (which looked ok). She's generally pretty granola, and the little vanities there amuse me.

Because books.

At least three girls got nose jobs when I was in junior high/high school. And a friend of mine got a boob job a few years back.

The only surgery I would really consider is getting rid of my gall bladder scar, which is the old-school diagonal kind, and almost twelve inches long. It also got stretched out when I pregnant the first time, so it's really sort of hideous. I don't ever wear a bikini or even a cropped shirt, but I'd still like it to go away sometimes.

Our wings are not tired.

Happy belated Birthday to Ouise! I hope it was a grand one. And happy birthday to Jengod.

I've had plastic surgery twice. Once to remove the gravel from a motorcycle accident that was embedded in my wrists. This was about a year after the accident. The second time was to remove a fatty tumor thing from my back. Both times the scars have bothered me more than the objects removed. Me and surgery don't get along.

I may be forced to get my eyelids done at some point like my mother. They block some vision and do more so with time. It will only happen when I have no choice.

My son Bobby had his bald spot on his head removed when he was about 10. This was done because the type of skin there has an increased chance of becoming cancerous and living in Florida it often got burned and angry looking. I waited until he was old enough to be still with just a local because I didn't feel the risk warranted a general. The surgeon was a hoot. Boca Raton surgeon with a waiting room full of tight faces and big boobs. He joked with Bobby about his blood squirting on his ceiling and let him check out the part removed. He had kids. Of course he tested the waters before going full out gore.

It is likely that I know so many people that have had work done since I live in Palm Beach county. LA likely the same. Many of my girlfriends have had tummy tucks and breast work. My deep fear of needles and pain keep me far away from that route. I'll just avoid mirrors. (kidding, kinda)

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

My neighbor had breast implants. No one really knows why she felt the need. ( esp since I know a number that would get a reduction if they could) . She was beautiful before, but she was in her late 20s eary 30s and was feeling the first signs of aging. The recovery time was much longer anyway expected. and there there was the time it tokk her to get used to the extra weight up front.

The kind of plastic surgery I'd consider - if I lost a bunch of weight and had loose skin to deal with

had his bald spot on his head removed

How do they remove that?

Scalp is really loose. They just cut it out and stitched the sides together. It was thick leathery skin with no hair folicles. I was doing work for a plastic surgeon when Bobby was about a month old and he was with me since he was still nursing. The doc wanted to do the surgery then but I wasn't up to having my new precious bundle cut. Really should have done it then since I knew it would happen sometime. Took about 2 minutes.

eta: it was in the back of his head in the middle of the hair area.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

If you have had plastic surgery, why and are you happy with it? If you haven't, would you consider it?

Depends how broadly you define plastic surgery. I've had some moles and beauty marks removed just because I didn't like them. Doing so led the dermatologist to find and remove a bump that was precancerous, but might not have been for long, so I am extra happy with that decision.

If I had anything "fixed" it would be my nose.

I forgot about those. I get the little red type moles. When they pop up on my beltline or braline I get them burnt off because they get so irritated. Not vanity but comfort there. It's not near as invasive as surgery.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday jengod!

I don't know if I know anyone who's had cosmetic surgery.(I don't know if my friend who had gastric bypass surgery and lost a lot of weight had the extra skin removed. I haven't seen her in a number of years.)
