A picture of what happens when a dumbass truckdriver tries to drive his 13'6" truck through the 13' high Lincoln Tunnel.
There's a slightly-too-low bridge just up the street from where I used to work -- it happened often enough that we named the act after the way the top of the truck peels off like a sardine can. "What was that noise?" "Oh, some dumbass just sardined..."
(I have to say, though, not nearly the same traffic impact as doing it in the Lincoln Tunnel!)
I also see this pretty often with truckdrivers who don't heed the height limit while passing underneath Lakeshore Drive. Although usually those trucks are still wedged but good.
Yeah, I saw a truck wedged under a bridge like that once on North Ave. The truck trailer was buckled and had half the roof peeled back. The truck driver was sitting in the truck waiting for assistance. A passing motorist said to him, "You hit the bridge there." The truck driver replied, "No shit, asshole."
Mr. TB? That interview reads as crocodile tears. The recycled air in a plane? usually good for highly contagious diseases.
If he didn't think it was that serious then why did he balk at staying in Italy and claim he thought he'd die if he didn't get back to the US?
I understand that there are treatments, but his odds right now are about 30%. I'm willing to delay the payback because he has enough to deal with right now. Not to mention that it'll be a while before the exact amount of damages becomes clear.
Okay, can we just hope that he dies?
Father-in-law has apparently said that the TB strain didn't come from him or the CDC. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Ditto the wife, which complicates civil liability issues immensely.
I don't think so. Any activities after he was notified to turn himself in in Italy can be considered to be done with knowledge and intent. Plus, he has admitted several times that he deliberately attempted (and succeeded) in circumventing the no-fly restriction by entering Canada, and knew that he would expose people on his way to treatment in the US. He did not wear a mask at any time, further showing his recklessness

See, this is just like the damn LJ Purge Panic this week -- it's very, VERY simple: if you fuck up, just be a man and admit it and don't try to deflect blame.

I've heard this as the Ted Kennedy Corollary: Tell the bad news as fast and as in much detail as possible.

The report I heard on NPR yesterday, on All Things Considered, quoted a doctor at the Denver hospital where TB Dude is, who said that TB Dude should make a full recovery.
I have no idea how accurate that is.

Exactly. No good can come of prevaricating, and you just hurt your image if you delay/don't reply at all.
