Huh. I never realized that the '60s had ads with such creepy sexual subtext....
American Airlines Ad: Think of her as your mother. (Oct, 1968)
Think of her as your mother.
She only wants what’s best for you.
A cool drink. A good dinner. A soft pillow and a warm blanket.
This is not just maternal instinct. It’s the result of the longest
Stewardess training in the industry.
Training in service, not just a beauty course.
Service, after all, is what makes professional travellers prefer American.
And makes new travellers want to keep on flying with us.
So we see that every passenger gets the same professional treatment.
That’s the American Way.
Fly the American Way

I heard about the Gay Bomb on Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me this weekend! Funny.
That segment was so gigglarific.
People, if in two places
you are responsible for,
you state the policy as X, do not come to me and ask me why something is X. It is because you said so!
Blah. I was vaguely considering seeing the touring production of Spamalot here, but Ticketmaster has the only tickets left, and they tack over $10 of fees on top of any ticket. Grrrr.
such creepy sexual subtext....
It's not creepy sexual subtext. It's creepy familial subtext.
Or something.
My heart rate has not climbed down from its peaks this morning, plus I'm achey and sore. Such a whiner.
but Ticketmaster has the only tickets left, and they tack over $10 of fees on top of any ticket. Grrrr.
It's why I call them Ticketbastard.
They are! They're total bastards. And I'm disappointed that the local company here is like, "Nope, sorry, only Ticketmaster. Suck it up."
They are! They're total bastards.
Yes, I too recently had the joy of a Ticketmaster "tickets are $31, OH WAIT HA HA, MAKE THAT $45" experience.
I'm skipping 120 posts to ask the Hivemind this question...
Have any of you ever heard of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC)? Apparently my son was nominated. Meep.
I spent a summer working for NYLC in Washington many years ago -- I don't remember a Junior version, but the main event was pretty cool.
They sent this beautiful packet and engraved invitation and letters to us and to Ben, and program information, registration materials, etc., so it looks on the up and up. I have to email his teacher and find out what this is all about.
