Is anyone else watching
The Starter Wife?
I taped the first three hours and just finished watching it. So far, much more enjoyable that I expected it to be.
(I also watched a repeat of
Army Wives
and strangely, there is some similarlity between the two shows.)
It's almost 6am and I haven't slept. This doesn't bode well for my mighty cleaning-the-house plans for the day.
Francis Bacon the painter?
Yes. He's played by Sir Derek Jacobi.
Thanks for the good wishes, y'all. I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot of headpats and confidence building in the next month or so. I posted some more details and pics to my lj here: [link]
If it's any consolation, I can't imagine something as life-important as home acquisition being any less than stressful, if you're doing it right. If you're going into this with a Paris Hiltonian-la-dee-dah attitude, that would be a problem!

Trying to figure out what thrives in a part sun, dry climate.
Allyson, you should totally xeriscape.
Timelies all!
I'm so tired of being tired, it's not funny.
There are dozens of things on my list and yet I am watching tennis. I would ask why, but the answer is obvious.
brenda - good luck. And the bathroom is sort of what we want to do to our bathroom.
Allyson I have a book put out by East Bay MUD ( municipal utilities district)
which is obviously for here - but I'll look through it and see if there are good suggestions.
eta: mexican sage is a good one - but it tends to take over . But birds bees and butterflies like it. There are some colorful grasses out there - If you need them to stay small there are some that grow in mounds and don't grow very big.
